Week 0 postpartum: The day before delivery

Sunday, July 7th

I woke up around Midnight and when I went to the toilet I felt a small trickle down my leg.
Was that maybe my water breaking?
I was 41w2d pregnant that day and was desperately looking for signs of labor.
I had read about water breaking feeling like a gush of fluid coming out of you, but it didn't feel like this at all. Maybe I had just peed myself…?
I hadn't lost enough fluid to warrant contacting the hospital, so I decided to go back to bed for now.

The next morning I woke up not feeling any different than usual. I went downstairs to where my husband was already having breakfast. We started talking about which cafe we wanted to go to today when I finally felt it. The gush of water everyone on the Internet talked about. My water had truly broken!
There was no doubt about it now, the water kept coming out of me without control. My husband called the hospital and we were told to go there immediately.
We contacted my mother in law and she drove us to the hospital.

Once we arrived the doctors tested me and confirmed that it was indeed amniotic fluid.
They also did a cervical exam and I was about 2 cm dilated.
Due to the high risk of infection due to the water breaking it was decided that I should stay at the hospital for the day and wait for labor to start. If it wouldn't start naturally until Monday morning labor would get induced.

I got moved to the delivery room to see if my baby was doing ok and we did a NST (Baby was doing good).
The NST showed that I was having regular contractions and the nurses and doctors were surprised I wasn't in pain already. I didn't feel anything, so I assume they were just false labor contractions.

At this point husband was still with me and we had convenience store lunch together.
At around 2pm we were told that we slowly need to leave the delivery room. I had asked for a single room, but unfortunately all of them were occupied that day and I could only get my own room from Monday.
Since visitors (especially men) were not allowed in the 4-person rooms my husband left to go home and I went to my room alone.

From there on I went to my room and just hoped for labor to start soon.
I tried to get some sleep to get energy for delivery, but the bed was quite uncomfortable and with my belly being so huge it was hard to fall asleep. The doctor and nurses came a few times to check on me and ask if labor had started, but there were no signs yet. I was slowly starting to lose hope that labor would start naturally.
During all of this amniotic fluid was still gushing out of me. I had to go to the bathroom frequently and soaked a couple of postpartum pads (I was happy I brought a whole pack of them).

The day ended with no signs of labor…
