英語日記013：日本の教育の問題点

日記も13本目になりました。ちょっと重ためのテーマにも挑んでみようと思います。

1 Problems of Japanese Education System

I am running my own company with a business partner. Our company provides educational services for both children and adults. We think there are some problems in Japanese education systems and we want to solve some of these problems through our business.

For example, all Japanese children enter elementary schools at the age of six. Even though they are the same age, their knowledge, physique, and athletic ability are different. This system has a big problem. When you find a classmate who is inferior to them, you start mocking them and bullying them. In Japan, more than 300 students commit suicide every year, many of which are caused by bullying.

If we can make classrooms with diversity-vary of age, skills, and experiences, students do not have to judge other students, and there will be no seeds of bullying. 

This is one of the reasons why I decided to study education in a graduate school, University of the People.

今までで一番高い点数ですが、指摘が重たかったです。
ずばり最後の一文の「This」って何？という指摘。

日本語の世界だと「そんなわけで大学院に入ろうと思ったんです」というあいまいな説明が割と成り立ちやすいのですが、英語（特にwriting English）だとこの辺の因果関係を整えないと「どゆこと？」と思われがちなのだそうです。

これはもう英語力以前の問題で、自分がもっと思考を言語化することを突き詰めないといけないよな…と。

4 おわりに

日本語と英語と言う2つの言語を行き来すると、思考がブラッシュアップされる感覚を得ることができます。英語日記を始める頃はそういう副産物があるとは思っていませんでした。

曲がりなりにもコンサルティング等の仕事を経てロジカルな思考を鍛えてきた自負があったのですが、一つ一つの言い回しや単語選びは、今までと違った厳密さを求められる気がしていて非常に新鮮味があります。
