はじめに
前回ChatGPTのhello worldを紹介しました。今回はChatGPTによる英文校正の方法を紹介しますが、実際はすでに報告されているChatGPTの上手な使用方法になりますので、私の独自技術ではありませんのであしからず。
ChatGPTの注意点
ChatGPTに入力する文書は機械学習に使用されますので、研究の肝となるデータや個人情報を入力するのはやめましょう！
ChatGPTによる英文校正方法の紹介
今回はこちらの Awesome ChatGPT Prompts に紹介されている英文校正の方法を紹介します。非常にシンプルです。
図１の赤で囲った部分に下記のように入力しましょう。
I want you to act as an English translator, spelling corrector and improver. I will speak to you in any language and you will detect the language, translate it and answer in the corrected and improved version of my text, in English. I want you to replace my simplified A0-level words and sentences with more beautiful and elegant, upper level English words and sentences. Keep the meaning same, but make them more literary. I want you to only reply the correction, the improvements and nothing else, do not write explanations. My first sentence is "ここに校正したい文書を英語で入力"
下記の文書を入力してみます。
Colorectal cancers are the third most common cancers in the world. To suppress the colorectal cancer incidence and mortality, colonoscopy and subsequent polypectomy are eagerly conducted worldwide.
うーん、どうでしょう。いまいちアカデミックではないような・・。
ChatGPTにお願いするスタイルをacademicに変えてみましょう

どうでしょうか？すこし実用に耐えそうな感じですかね。1文目がいまいちなのは、私の文が稚拙だからでしょう・・・。
それにしてもcurbとか普段使わない単語を提案してくれていいですね。
論文を書いていると、慣れている単語ばかりになって単調になりがちなので、非常に良いかと思いました。
なお日本語で入力してくれても直してくれますが、英語を入力した方が圧倒的に精度が高い印象です。
おわりに
簡単ではありますが、ChatGPTによる英文校正の方法を紹介しました。もちろんChatGPTが出力してくれるものが常によいとは限りません。出力されたものを吟味して採否の判断をできる能力が必要です。
ただある程度英文を書ける人にとっては、このパラフレーズ力は魅力的だと思います。ぜひご活用ください。
