桂離宮は建物内部だけではなく、それらを結ぶ小径にも多くの設えが施されています。

Not only the interiors of the buildings, but also the paths that connect them, have been designed with a great deal of finesse.

御幸門  (Miyuki-mon Gate)

アイストップ（eyestop）の樹木や様々な表情をもった垣根、床のパターンや石灯篭など自然材料を基調として、熟練した職人の感性によって美しく仕上げられています。

The eyestop trees, hedges with various expressions, floor patterns and stone lanterns, have been made by natural materials as a base, and are beautifully finished with the sensibility of a skilled craftsman.

住吉の松 (Sumiyoshi pine tree)： 庭の全体を一度に見せないようにしている

外腰掛 (Soto-koshikake)： 松琴亭の待合

監修は小堀遠州とも言われ、限られた敷地の中に壮大に演出された空間が広がり、そこに身を置くと、様々な思いが自分の中に湧いてきて、世俗を離れた穏やかな時を過ごすことができます。

It is said that Enshu Kobori (notable Japanese artist) supervised it, and in the limited site magnificently staged spaces is expanded. When you put yourself there, and let various thoughts well up inside, you have a peaceful time away from the secular world.

月波楼 (Geppa-ro)： 月見のための茶室

今回で桂離宮は、とりあえず終わりです。
写真はまだまだあるので、また、感想を記すかもしれません。
観月会にも参加してみたいですね。
