11月23日、NSWとVictoriaのボーダーが138日ぶりにオープンした。
…という非常に嬉しいニュースをテレビで見ていて気になったのは、カンタス空港でメルボルンから来た人々を歓迎するドラッグクイーンや上半身裸の男性達。
朝の8時。
ニュースキャスターは、「メルボルンからの乗客達はシドニー空港にてドラッグクイーンに迎えられました。」と冷静沈着に伝えている。
上半身裸の男性達は、リアリティテレビシリーズ「ボンダイレスキュー」の出演者達、すなわちボンダイビーチのライフガード達とのこと。
一見目を見張るこの歓迎、実はシドニーを象徴するものだった。
マルディグラでお馴染みのドラッグクイーンと有名なボンダイビーチのライフガード。
ドラッグクイーンカルチャーとビーチ。
どちらも極端な代表が立ったけど、多様性とウエルビーイング。
いつまでもこんな陽気で健康的な都市であってほしいなぁと思う。

On the 23rd of November, the border between NSW and Victoria opened after the closure 138 days ago.
What caught me when watching this very pleasant news on TV was drag queens and guys half naked at Qantas airport welcoming Victorians at 8 a.m. in the morning.
The newscaster was telling that Drag queens welcome first Victorians into Sydney
with a rather serious manner.
It turned out that the half-naked guys were from a reality show “Bondi Rescue”, that is they are the lifeguards in Bondi Beach.
This surprising welcome is very Sydney, I realised.
Drag queens who are known by the big famous festival Mardi Gras, and lifeguards from the famous Bondi beach.
They are both little extreme, but represent diversity and wellbeing.
I sincerely hope that Sydney stays cheerful and healthy city forever.
