ショパン・ピアノコンクール　Round2 反田恭平

Kyohei Sorita is the boss. He is head and shoulder above the other pianists in this session, with his beautiful sound, superior technique, and overall maturity. His performance in Stage 2 makes the other pianists look like students. If he keeps this up, he for sure will be on the podium, and to me is one of the front runners for the Gold Medal.

初めてピアノ演奏を聴いて自然と涙が出ました。こんなに繊細な音、聴いたことがありませんでした。ありがとう。

I can't believe I finally found a Pianist that have amazing techniques. The whole Performance of this man is magnificent.　It's a crime if he can not enter to final.

圧巻の演奏技術と表現力。ピアノが反田さんの操る生き物のように見えました。素晴らしいピアニスト。bravo！

I was very impressed when I heard the interview after this performance.
Sorita-san chose tunes with his own theme, Waltz=cat (animal), Rondo=human (personality) and Ballade=nature (earthquake, disaster)
in the same F major.　Andante spianato is from the movie "The Pianist" homage　He is a pianist of the high class, so I am very excited about his 3rd and Final!!

Even if you are not a classic piano fan, it's worth watching Kyohei Sorita's performance. After 2nd round, he said in his interview in Japanese that he learned other contestants performance in1st round and thought through how his performance would be received by the judges. I was so touched to see / hear "Bravo" from the venue when he finished performing, as I could tell he won the heart of the audience. He had a presence of winner.

反田さんの演奏は、ピアノの方から反田さんやお客さんにお喋りをはじめているように感じます。反田さんは、それを聴きとってお返事しているような…もっとお喋りしていいよって促しているような……。
ピアノが喜んでいるのがわかる演奏…ずっと聴いていたいです。

After reading so many encouraging comments on this video, I was wondering how true what everyone was saying was. I started with the Ballade No. 2. I was pleasantly surprised with the sensitivity in the first section. My eyes WIDENED and I was dumbfounded when the agitato section came around. I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY PIANIST PLAY IT THAT GRACEFULLY AND SENSITIVELY. This man is truly something else!

ワルツやマズルカのリズムが、しがない日本人の私には超本物に聞こえるんですけど、ポーランドの人にどう聞こえるんだろ、、、と思ってたけど、最後の歓声聴いて確信した・・・間違いなく認められてる！！
