Bravo! Bruce's performance made my heart dance. His tone was clear and sparkling, and the grains of sound were shimmering. I felt the emotion in his light and lively performance. Each scene was very impressive. Thank you for the inspiration!

Congratulations to Bruce for winning the First Prize. You played this concerto so well. Sorita was my favorite to win until I heard your concerto. You deserved this. Congrats to Canada as Bruce becomes the first Canadian to win this event.

Congratulations to this fantastic pianist. Great career ahead of him and I'm glad the Fazioli takes the spotlight this year.

Bruce Liu seemed to be have a more traditional style, similar to Rafael Bleachaz and Yundi Li. Clear fingers, emphasis on countermelody sometimes (not always), nice playing style, great technique. Perhaps this is what the jurors think the ‘authentic’ Chopin style should be? Sorita on the other hand, was a master technician but in some passages may have emphasised his left hand countermelodies/middle melodies too much. Also, I thought his 3rd movement of the concerto was a bit underwhelming (especially his right hand clarity). The movement typically is played with a bit more bounce, but Sorita’s style is fingers close to the keys, so he can’t easily ‘let loose’ so to speak. Both pianists will have a bright future.

I fully agree with the jury awarding the first prize to Bruce Liu. His playing had all the winning components that others also displayed, plus a "musical strength". What is this? I can hardly define it but it is something that kept me on my toes his whole performance.

Conglutinions!! His first arpeggio has no waste and no confusion. Every sound he was touching, pushing keys, and playing was pure and complicated. His based sounds always unit with Orchestra.
I listened to such music called “Art” for the first time. I have known him for the first time, I will always be there to cheer you up .

The only contestant who played it while enjoying himself with the orchestra! 😻 Like a master playing with colors and tones. Not a single note was boring or redundant. He didn’t come to compete with anyone, he came to give a great concert for everyone not just the juries. And that’s why he is the clear winner. Can’t wait to listen more of him.

Congratulations to Bruce! After won 2nd, and 5th places on 17th, Canadian won 1st and 6th again! So proud！🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Breathtakingly beautiful. In a league of his own. Well deserved win in my opinion.

How fortunate this this exceptional performance was the last of the competition. He plays with a driving dynamism especially in the third movement, very accelerating. It seems even the orchestra had been captured by it.

While listening to this live, I felt the 1st and 2nd movements were a bit dubious and maybe too ambitious. But man, that 3rd movement -- pure goosebump! Bruce Liu did a magnificent work at showing what a true vivace is. He never lagged behind, while still paying close attention to the orchestra and not getting ahead of it. An exquisite example of a "great save."

Congratulations to Bruce Liu, and to all other contestants as well. 2020 and 2021 were tough years, but you guys showed how music bring happiness to us and unite the world. Thanks, guys.

Wow after listening to this, I understand why he won!!! Clearly the best performance of the 12 by far. He has developed his own style. He owned this competition and we can see a huge difference in skill level between him and the other 11 finalists. In fact, I would say his interpretation is probably the best I have ever listened to!!!! Congrats Bruce

This was soooo powerful and elegant at the same time. A wide palette of colours and shades. An outstanding performance!. Plus, that he is so humble. Brushed away the Conductor’s encouragement to return to the stage for another bow. Bruce, you represent a true Canadian spirit of positive energy and humility. God Bless You!
