よくどうしようもないときに「神に祈る」というが、なんだかしっくりこない。どこで見たか定かではないが日本には「天」という言葉がある。
「天に祈る」とか「いつでも天が見てる」という具合で使われる。僕には「神」よりも「天」のほうがしっくりくる。神様は抽象的で万物を想像したのだろうがなんだか万能過ぎてちょっと信頼におけない。
それよりも自然的な天（自分の中のイメージは空や宇宙とかとにかく広く捉えようのないもの）の方が現実と非現実のバランスをうまく保てているような気がする。
今日も天に感謝をしつつ眠ることとする。

We often say "pray to God" when we can't help ourselves, but it doesn't feel right. I am not sure where I saw it, but in Japan there is a word 
"heaven".
It is used to say "pray to heaven" or "heaven is always watching. To me, "heaven" is more appropriate than "god". God is abstract and may have imagined all things, but it seems too all-powerful to be trustworthy.
Rather, I feel that the natural heaven (my image of the sky, the universe, and the like is so broad and elusive) maintains a better balance between the real and the unreal.
Today, too, I will thank the heavens as I go to sleep.
