Believe me, this is a new experience.

At KIKAI College, we offer an internship program .
This time, we are featuring HSIAO, YU-WEN's internship experience!

●Name:Hsiao Yu Wen
●Age:24
●Country:Taiwan
●Internship period:2024.07.01~2024.08.06(37 days)
●School:I-SHOU University

Why you choose this internship?

I-Shou University has given us this internship opportunity, allowing us to challenge ourselves in different fields. This mission involves combining our expertise to investigate environmental changes. During this process, we also need to consult with experts from the Coral Reef Research Institute to acquire relevant knowledge, enabling us to create new technological ideas.

What did you do in your internship?

I feel that every aspect of this experience left a deep impression on me. There are a few specific activities that stand out: one is changing the water for coral eggs, another is cutting coral fossils, and the third is performing CT scans on coral reefs. All three of these activities were new experiences for me, and I found them very interesting.

What tasks left a lasting impression on you?

What left the deepest impression on me was the science camp in the final days. I was able to see that children from different countries have varying learning styles, but they were all able to express their ideas and respect each other's opinions. The teachers also gave the children a lot of freedom to move around and participate. They did not get angry when the kids were noisy, and they were very generous in overlooking mistakes. This is really the most impressive gain from this visit.

What realizations did you have through the internship?

I can better understand how important the coral reef is to the ocean and ecology. It is an indicator of the ocean and an indicator of the past story. For this internship, I have another deeper understanding of the environment.

What did you do on your day off?

Practice shamisen, enjoy traditional izakaya performances, participate in local harvest festivals and experience the beauty of local coral reefs.

What is your future goals?

My future goal is to combine electronic technology to assist in ocean purification and make companies aware of ecological protection and sustainable development. The EU currently attaches great importance to this. We cannot regard sustainable development as the future, but must implement it now.
