№21. 自転車天国シンガポール！ロードバイクを始めてみた理由。

シンガポールは2月1日、2日のチャイニーズ・ニューイヤーを終え、日常を取り戻しております。

直近の新コロ新規数は、日本と同様に過去最高を更新していますが、政府の対策も街の反応も割と冷静です。

かねてより、今後は新規数を追わず、病床使用率や重症化率を見て対策を講じると宣言しており、今のところその通りになっています。

さて、そんな中ですが、

そろそろ休日に一人で時間を過ごせる趣味的なものを見つけたいなと思い始めてきました。

ゴルフかな？

一応、ゴルフセット一式は日本から送ったものの、部屋の倉庫の一番奥に置かれたまま。一度も触れていません。

近くに打ちっぱなし練習場はなさそうだし、レッスンに通うほどの余裕もありません。そして、何より誰かとコースを回る予定がありません。

ということで却下。

ならばと思い立ったのが、ロードバイク。

シンガポールではランニングする人の多さに驚くのですが、同様にロードバイクで駆け抜けていく人たちの多さにも驚きます。

この人たちを見て、いつもうっすらと「いいなー、楽しそうだなー」と思っていました。

私、ロードバイクには乗ったことはなく、知識も全然ないのですが、興味本位でネットやYouTubeで調べてみると、まあ奥の深い世界が広がっていること。

さんざん調べ尽くして、ついに購入しちゃいました。

ロードバイクを始めてみたのは「そろそろこっちで趣味的なものを見つけたい」という当初の目的とは別に、もう一つ理由があります。

それは、シンガポールの地理と距離感を身体で覚えたいからです。

地下鉄、バス、タクシーを使ったの移動には大分、慣れてきましたが、これらは点から点への移動。

自分の意思で道を選んでいるわけではない、ほっといても目的地に着いちゃうので、地理と距離感はあまり身に付きません。

フィットネスジムのような店舗ビジネスをやるなら、商圏の地理と距離感を身体で把握していることは大切だと思うのです。

私の担当するエニタイムフィットネス・ハーバーフロント店は、シンガポール全土からメンバーさんが集まっています。

なので、できればシンガポール中の地理と距離感を身体に覚えさせたい！

この想いが購入への一押しとなり、買っちゃいました。

ロードバイクの2大メーカー、GIANT（台湾）にするか？TREK（米国）にするか？

それぞれのシンガポール旗艦店に行って、たくさん質問し、悩んだ末にTREKのエントリーモデルに決めました。

初めてのロードバイク、なかなかGoodです！

そして狙い通り乗れば乗るほど、シンガポールの地理と距離感をスイスイ身体が吸収していく感じです。

「へえ、この道があそこにつながってるんだ！」、「あそことここって意外と近いんだな！」、「こんな場所にスタバ発見！」とか、そんな連続で楽しいです。

こんな感じが１年くらい続いたら、シンガポール中の地理と距離感はコンプリートできるのではと思い、ワクワクしています。

The number of new cases in recent has reached a record high, as in Japan, but the government's measures and the reaction of the city are relatively calm. In advance, they have declared that they will not keep track of just new cases and will take measures based on the bed usage rate and aggravation rate. Well, in such a situation, I started to find a hobby that I could spend my time alone on my day off. Is it Golf?  My golf sets was sent from Japan, but it remains in the back of the warehouse in the room. I have never touched it. There doesn't seem to be a driving range nearby, and I can't afford to attend lessons. And above all, I have no plans to go around the course with anyone. So it was rejected. Then I came up with a Road Bike. I'm surprised at how many people run in Singapore, but I'm also surprised at how many people run through on Road Bikes. When I saw these people, I always thought, "Looks good and fun." I have never rode a Road Bike and have no knowledge at all, but when I looked it up on the Website or YouTube with a focus on interest, I found that a deep world was spreading. After a lot of research, I finally bought it. There is another reason why I started a Road Bike, apart from the original purpose of "I want to find something hobby here." That's because I want to physically learn the geography and distance of Singapore. I've gotten used to traveling by subway, bus, and taxi, but these are point-to-point transfers. I don't choose the path by my own will, but I get to the destination even if I leave it, so I don't get much sense of geography and distance. If you are doing a store business like a Fitness Gym, I think it is important to have a physical grasp of the geography and distance of the trade area. The AF Harborfront that I am in charge of has members from all over Singapore. So, if possible, I want my body to remember the geography and sense of distance throughout Singapore! This feeling helped me to buy it. Will it be GIANT (Taiwan) or TREK(USA), the 2 major brands of Road Bikes? I went to each Singapore flagship store, asked a lot of questions, and after considering, decided on TREK's entry model. And the more I ride as I aim, the more I feel that my body absorbs Singapore's geography and sense of distance. "Wow, this road is connected to that!", "It's surprisingly close to that place!", "I found Starbucks in a place like this!" If this kind of feeling continues for about a year, I'm excited to think that I can complete the geography and sense of distance in whole of Singapore.
