What is JMSN?/JMSNってなに？
JMSN is a student network formed in April 2023 by two undergraduate students.
At JMSN, we aim to be a community where students, who are interested in marine science, can expand their field of expertise and interact with each other in a casual manner!
We cover topics ranging from marine biology to conservation.
Since we want to encourage English discussions, all of our activities are carried out completely in simple English.
JMSN (Japan Marine Students’ Network)とは、
2023年4月に学部生2名で結成した、学生ネットワークです。
海洋科学に興味がある、将来海洋科学分野の研究者を目指している、
そんな学生たちが自分の専門分野を広げ、
気軽に交流できるコミュニティを目指しています。
コミュニケーションスキル向上のため、活動は基本的に英語で行われます。
Our Goals/活動目的
・To interact with students interested in marine science
・To exchange information regarding marine science
・To gain experience in speaking English
・海洋科学に興味がある学生同士で交流すること
・海洋科学に関する情報交換を行うこと
・英語で話す経験を積むこと
Our Activities/活動内容
Alternate between online discussions on academic topics related to marine science and casual face-to-face social events.
The seminar will include an introduction to the participants' research, areas of expertise, as well as reading about research papers and books.
In the casual events, we will go out for lunch/dinner, visit aquariums or participate in fieldwork together!
海洋科学に関するアカデミックな話題を扱うオンラインのゼミと、
カジュアルな対面での交流会（食事会や水族館ツアー、フィールドワークなど）を交互に行います。
ゼミでは参加者の研究・専門分野紹介や、論文、書籍の輪読を行うことを考えています。
※基本的には英語を用います
Location/場所
Online discussions: zoom
Face-to-face meetings: Around Tokyo area (exact location to be confirmed later depending on the event)
オンライン開催の場合はzoom、
対面開催の場合は東京近辺の飲食店や水族館等（未定）
Date and Frequency/日時・頻度
Participants will meet twice a month.
The online seminars will last approximately one hour.
The dates and times are not fixed and will be adjusted among the participants.
基本的な活動頻度は月に2回です。ゼミは約1時間を予定しています。
日時は固定しておらず、参加者の間で調整していきたいと考えています。
Necessities/活動に必要なもの
There is no fee required to participate in the discussions.
For online seminars, you may be asked to read papers or books in advance. In-person activities and aquarium tours require additional fees for transport, food, beverages, and admission to the aquarium.
活動参加費は無料です。
オンラインゼミでは、事前に論文や書籍を読んでいただく場合があります。
対面での食事会や水族館ツアーには別途飲食費・入館費等がかかります。
