尾道を舞台にした映画は数々ある。その中でも印象に残っている作品はいくつかある。時代的にも共感をもった、1953年公開の小津安二郎監督作品の「東京物語」はいまも心に刻まれている。
そして尾道出身ということで興味をもった大林宣彦監督の遺作となった「海辺の映画館―キネマの玉手箱」や「尾道三部作」は尾道が舞台。ガンを患い余命三カ月と宣告されながらも、監督が執念を燃やし撮り続けた「海辺の映画館―キネマの玉手箱」などは尾道に大きな文芸財産として残した。
また、尾道・因島出身の小説家・湊かなえ氏の原作「望郷」を菊地健雄監督が映画化し、因島、向島などで撮影し、話題になった作品である。

There are many movies set in Onomichi. Among them, there are some works that left an impression on me. The "Tokyo Story" directed by Yasujiro Ozu, which was released in 1953 and has sympathy with the times, is still engraved in my heart.
And "Seaside Movie Theater-Kinema's Tamatebako" and "Onomichi Trilogy", which were the last works of director Nobuhiko Obayashi who was interested because he was from Onomichi, are set in Onomichi. Despite being sentenced to three months to live due to cancer, the director burned his obsession and continued to shoot, such as "The Seaside Movie Theater-Kinema's Tamatebako," which he left behind as a large literary property in Onomichi.
In addition, director Takeo Kikuchi made a movie of the original "Bokyo" by Kanae Minato, a novelist from Onomichi and Innoshima, and shot it in Innoshima, Mukaishima, etc., and it became a hot topic.

 多くの作品を生み出し、またロケ地になっている尾道は全国に「映画の街」として周知されている。その映画・尾道を語るのに外せないのが「地形」から築かれた独特の風土や暮らしなどがある。海や山そして島々などの自然の恵に育まれた風土と、歴史的商業地域としてヒト・モノの交流や流通で栄えた土壌が文化・芸術を生み出すエネルギーになっていると言える。

 Onomichi, which has produced many works and is a filming location, is well known throughout the country as a "city of movies." One of the things that cannot be missed when talking about the movie, Onomichi, is the unique climate and lifestyle built from the "terrain." It can be said that the climate nurtured by the blessings of nature such as the sea, mountains and islands, and the soil that prospered through the exchange and distribution of people and goods as a historical commercial area, are the energy to create culture and art.

 

尾道は、そんな自然のエネルギーの恩恵を享受しながら新しいコトへの挑戦が生まれ、多くの人の知恵と工夫によって創られている。
6年前にスタートした「尾道映画祭」もその一つ。映画を愛する市民の手で創り上げられた「尾道映画祭」は2017年にスタートした。今年で6回目を迎えるが、今年2月末開催を予定していたが新型コロナウィルスによる蔓延防止等重点措置の発令で、2020年についで2度目の開催中止を余儀なくされた。
それが解除され、改めて『尾道映画祭2022』はこの6月17日(金)より19日(日)までの3日間、市民の強い思いで開催される運びとなった。

 Onomichi is created by the wisdom and ingenuity of many people, creating new challenges while enjoying the benefits of such natural energy.
One of them is the Onomichi Film Festival, which started six years ago. The Onomichi Film Festival, created by the hands of movie-loving citizens, started in 2017. This year marks the sixth time, and although it was scheduled to be held at the end of February this year, the announcement of priority measures such as prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus forced the holding to be canceled for the second time after 2020.
It was lifted, and "Onomichi Film Festival 2022" will be held again for three days from June 17th (Friday) to 19th (Sunday) with the strong feelings of the citizens.

今回のテーマは、『作家と尾道、その未来』である。未来につながる映画祭として大きな目標を掲げている。尾道が生んだ漫画家、かわぐちかいじ氏が今回初参加。
早いもので、3回忌となった映画作家、大林宣彦監督作品の「ふたり」の上映をはじめいくつかの会場で若手監督作品や尾道ゆかりの方々の作品が上映される。
「ふたり」に主演した石田ひかりさんらもゲストとして参加されるようだ。また、俳優の青木崇高さんは、今回は監督として参加される。その他にも、多くのアーティスト、クリエイターが尾道に集結し映画祭を盛り上げる。

 The theme this time is "Writers and Onomichi, their future". It has a big goal as a film festival that will lead to the future. Kaiji Kawaguchi, a manga artist born in Onomichi, participated for the first time this time.
At some venues, young directors and works by people related to Onomichi will be screened, including the screening of "Futari" directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, a filmmaker who was the third anniversary of the film.
It seems that Hikari Ishida and others who starred in "Futari" will also participate as guests. In addition, actor Munetaka Aoki will participate as a director this time. In addition, many artists and creators gather in Onomichi to liven up the festival.
