春といえば、鶯　　【一茶庵稽古追想】 Speaking of spring, the bush warbler

稽古が始まるやいなや宗匠から、あのお軸に描かれている鳥は何ですか？ という質問が私に投げかけられた。
速攻に聞かれても、私の豆知識では答えが出てこない。確か、昨年くらいに見たお軸を思い浮かべた。
あの鳥は"鶉(うずら)"でしょ! と答えたが、宗匠や仲間からの笑いが漏れている。
宗匠から鶉なら季節はいつ頃？という質問が逆に飛んできた。

As soon as the training begins, What is the bird drawn on that axis? Sosho asked to me. Even if asked by haste, my knowledge does not give an answer. Certainly, I thought of the axis I saw last year.
That bird replied that it was a "quail", but laughter from the masters and friends was leaking. When is the season from a sect to a quail? The question flew in reverse. 

えぇ〜と、またまた頭を抱え込んだ。大伴家持の、鶉を詠んだ悲哀の和歌を思い出した。
この春に、悲哀はないでしょう、と宗匠に突っ込まれ、そりゃ、そうだ！と納得。
なら、表装の色は何色？
薄いブルーである。

Well, I held his head again. l remembered the sorrowful waka poem of the Iemochi Otomo, who wrote the quail. This spring, I was rushed into the sect, saying that there would be no sorrow, and that is right! Convinced.
Then, what is the color of the exterior?
It is light blue.

この色から連想すれば分かるでしょ！とさらに突っ込まれた。
春の鳥といえば、この鳥をまず連想しない、と。
ホーホケキョと鳴く鳥は？ といわれ、そうか！と。
やっとここで"鶯(うぐいす)"が頭に登場した、情けない話から始まった。

You can tell by associating with this color! I was thrust further.
Speaking of spring birds, I don't think of them first.
What is the bird that hohokekyo’s croaks ? That's right!
At last, the Warbler appeared in my head here, and it started with a pitiful story.

テーマは"鶯"。となると、国語の教科書にも登場した「江南の春」。
もちろん頭からすっかり消え去っている。
ご存知の方も多いと思うが、「杜牧」の詩である。晩唐の政治家であり詩人としても有名だった。天才詩人と世に知れ渡ったのが20代のとき。２６歳で科挙(かきょ)の一つである進士となり、江蘇省の楊州に赴任した時代には名作を多く残している。その代表作が「江南の春」である。

The theme is "warbler". When it comes to that, "Spring in Gangnam" that appeared in Japanese textbooks.
Of course, it is completely gone from my head.
As many of you may know, it is a poem of "Du Mu". He was also famous as a late Tang politician and poet. When he was in his twenties, he became known to the world as a genius poet. At the age of 26, he became a Jinshi, one of the Imperial Examinations, and left many of his masterpieces when he was assigned to Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. The masterpiece is "Spring in Gangnam".

その詩を宗匠の後に続き朗読。声を出して読むと不思議なものであるが、情景が浮かんでくる。江南地域の村や山々の古里に酒屋の旗が春風にたなびいている。そこに多くの仏教寺院が点在する。そして鶯の鳴き声が聞こえてくる。こぬか雨でその風景は霞む。懐かしの古里の風景が想像できる。

Read the poem after the master. It is strange to read aloud, but the scene comes to mind. The flag of a liquor store is fluttering in the spring breeze in the villages and old villages of the mountains in the Gangnam area. Many Buddhist temples are scattered there. And you can hear the warbler crying. The scenery is hazy due to the rain. You can imagine the nostalgic scenery of Furusato.

千 里 鶯 啼 緑 映 紅
水 村 山 郭 酒 旗 風
南 朝四 百 八 十 寺
多 少 楼 台 煙 雨 中

千里鶯啼いて　緑紅に映ず
水村山郭　酒旗の風
南朝　四百八十寺
多少の楼台　煙雨の中

せんりうぐいすないて　みどりくれないに　えいず
すいそんさんかく　しゅきのかぜ
なんちょう　しひゃくはちじゅうじ
たしょうのろうだい　えんうのうち

Senri Uguisu Nite Midori Kurenai ni Eizu
Suison Sankaku Shukinokaze
Nancho Shihyaku Hachijuji
Tasho no Rodai Enu no Uchi

春夜の稽古場で繰り返し朗読した。声を出して読むと不思議と情感が高まってくるものである。
この鶯を見ながら「雁が音」を淹れた。まろやかで優しい、春の味であった。

We read it repeatedly at the rehearsal hall in the spring night. When you read it aloud, your emotions will increase mysteriously.
While looking at this warbler, I brewed "Karigane-tea". It had a mellow and gentle spring taste.
