青天に黒と朱の楼門が映える 　Black and vermilion gates shine in the blue sky

社寺を参拝した折にかならずくぐるのが「門」。門には、鳥居と同じようにいろんな種類がある。竹などでできている小さな庭門も好きであるが、南禅寺や知恩院などの三門、中華街にある牌楼(ぱいろう)、そして平安神宮の應天門など巨大で華やかな門になぜか心から踊る。それは、「大きさ」「力強さ」「逞しさ」など惹かれる要因がいくつかある。

 The "gate" always goes through when you visit a shrine or temple. There are various types of gates, just like torii gates. I also like the small garden gates made of bamboo, but why are the three gates(sanmon) such as Nanzen-ji Temple and Chion-in Temple, the Pairo in Chinatown, and the Otenmon Gate of Heian Jingu. I excite from the bottom of my heart. There are several factors that attract it, such as "size," "strength," and "sturdiness."

 
先月、京都を訪ねた折に、参拝した建仁寺の三門「望闕樓(ぼうげつろう)」と平安神宮の「應天門(おうてんもん)」の美しさを改めて感じた。

 When I visited Kyoto last month, I once again felt the beauty of the three gates(sanmon) of Kennin-ji Temple, "Bougetsuro," and the Heian Jingu Shrine, "Otenmon."

胡粉で書かれているのだろうか、漆黒の二層造り楼門の扁額に「望闕樓」という三文字が書かれ、それがひときわ目立つ。私の眼に美しく映った。
一方で、青天に映える、平安神宮の朱の楼「應天門」も美しい、のひと言である。二層碧瓦葺（みどりがわらぶき）の建物で左右両廊から栖鳳（せいほう）・翔鸞（しょうらん）の二楼につながっている。朱の構造物に碧の瓦のコンポジションは美の極みといえる。漆黒の望闕樓と対比すればまったく異なる世界の建造物であるが、意味する「門」としては同じ。仏様、神様に通じる入口なのである。
 
Perhaps it is written in whitewash, the three letters "Kennin-ji" are written on the flat frame of the jet-black double-layered tower gate, which stands out. It looked beautiful in my eyes.
On the other hand, it is a word that the red tower "Otenmon" of Heian Jingu, which shines in the blue sky, is also beautiful. It is a two-story blue tiled building that connects the left and right corridors to the two towers, Seiho and Shoran. The composition of the red tiles on the vermilion structure is the height of beauty. It is a completely different world building when compared to the jet-black Kennin-ji, but it is the same as the meaning of "gate". It is an entrance leading to Buddha and God.
