In my head

A thought of comfort and condlecences to the grieving family.

Tomorrow, I will attend the vigil in solidarity with Christchurch in Cambridge.

Today, I'd like to write about this striking news and racial discrimination in general.

In this shooting attack, fifty people are killed and 50 and more are injured and still unconscious in hospital.

The suspect seems to have ultra-right thought and be a racist. But he neither has a previous offense nor had been monitored by the police. Rather, he is a normal and common white Australian.

These figures are totally different from our conventional image of 'terrorists'.

When I saw the news at first, I thought the current situation of New Zealand could be identified with the one of the future of Japan (although using guns is not allowed in Japan)

The Japanese government is trying to largely open the door to the foreign workers - immigrants - these days, even though there remain a bunch of problems.

But in fact, there should be difficulties to invite them and coexist under the same system, with the different culture. The difficulties are now appearing not only in New Zealand but in the US, the UK, Germany, and so on even in Japan as well.

This incident is no longer just the shooting attack in the neighbour country, not the something else's problem but I feel it could happen to every state.

At the same time, I could say I can understand the feeling of kinda fear of 'invasion' by immigrants, because I'm realising the clear distinction between beneficiaries of immigration and sufferers from its disadvantage.

It is so called 'anywhere' and 'somewhere' (Goodhart 2017)

What we should do is, I think,  not just to reject the fear and hate, but to have a communication, deliberate and understand each status even if it seems not understandable at first, because I can understand to some extent the both feelings of unreasonableness, although any attacks cannot be acceptable.

We have to rethink about immigrant issues as a problem of ourselves in order not to prevent a second Christchurch.
