イギリス生活20週目ふりかえり
イギリス生活5ヶ月経過の節目。
ここ最近は気候も天気も良く、気持ちが良い日々が続いている。

1週間のスケジュール
◯土曜
今日は朝から非常に天気が良かったので、散歩をすることにした。
ロンドンについてからまだ行ったことのないエリアなどもあったため、大体の方向を決めて歩き出すことにする。
歩き続けること1時間？か1時間半ほど。
道中、ぶつぶつと独り言で英語を話す。
人のいない公園を歩きながら、スマホのマイクに先週の振り返りを英語で音声入力し、以下のブログ記事の下書きを書いた。
長時間歩いていると、テムズ川にかかる橋にぶつかる。
その橋を超えたところに珍しい植物園があったので、入り口の前に立って入場料金を確認する。
どんな場所か調べてみると、以下の有名な植物園だった。（世界遺産）
すると突然、二人組の女性が近づいてきた。
女性「中に入りたいのですか？」
自分「はい」
女性「チケットが2枚あるので、差し上げます」
自分「本当ですか！ありがとうございます！」
彼女たちは周辺に住む人らしく、庭園で訪れるべき場所をいくつか勧めてもくれた。とても親切な方で、本当にありがたかった。。
女性たちと別れた後、庭園の探索を始める。
世界各国の植物（盆栽などもある）、中国式の建物から日本庭園までが揃う素晴らしい植物園だ。
ちなみにこの植物園の歴史はめちゃくちゃ面白いので、興味のある方は調べてみてください。（帝国主義の時代の世界史などとも深い関係がある）
天気も良く、総じて素晴らしい経験だった。
その後は植物園の最寄駅から電車に乗り、別のエリアに移動する。テムズ川沿いのケンジントンと呼ばれる場所だ。
電車を降りてから、テムズ川沿いをまたしても散歩し、周辺の土地勘を掴むことにした。
プレミアリーグの有名クラブのスタジアムがあるエリアに辿り着き、スタジアムの外観も見学。街全体が洗練されている印象だ。
かなりの距離を歩いた1日だったのだが、ロンドンのエリアやそれぞれの歴史について学びの多い1日だった。

この日は朝に先週のふりかえり記事を完成させたのち、企業のオンライン研修を受講。その後は仕事というスケジュール。
最近は仕事中に上手く言葉が出てこないことがあり、若干スピーキングが停滞気味。
言語学習のプロセスにおいては、以下のような現象もあったりするそうなので、対策しつつ継続していきたい。
Plateau Effectとは、言語学習の中で進歩が遅くなったり停滞したりする時期のことを指します。特に会話力などのスキルでよく起こる現象です。Plateau Effectが起こる主な理由は以下の通りです。
・学習の初期段階で急速に上達した後、中級レベルに達すると進歩のペースが落ちてくる
・同じ学習方法や教材を使い続けていると、脳が慣れてしまい刺激が少なくなる
・語彙力の不足が会話力向上の妨げになっている
・学習目標があいまいで、何をすべきかわからなくなっている
・ネイティブスピーカーと会話する機会が少ない
Plateauを克服するには、以下のような対策が有効です。
・学習ルーティンを変えて、新しい教材や学習法を取り入れる
・映画、ドラマ、などを通して、言語に没入する時間を増やす
・語彙を増やすために、テーマ別の単語リストを作成し、定期的に復習
・自分の現在のレベルに合った、明確で現実的な目標を設定する
・言語交換パートナーを見つけたり、オンライン上でネイティブと会話する機会を増やす

基本的には毎日仕事で、スキマ時間に語学学習をしたり、会社のオンライン研修を進めたりといった感じ。
朝突然電車が運休になったり、色々トラブルがあるのはイギリスっぽい。
日々の過ごし方は似ているが、時折寄り道したり、違う駅で降りて歩いてみたり、日々変化をつけるようにはしている。
街を歩いていると、色々な店舗の内装やデザインが目に入ってくるし、そこから感じ取れる工夫などもある。

この日は仕事はオフだったため、起床後、直近の語学学習のまとめを行い、まだ行ったことのなかったタワーブリッジ付近のエリアへと向かう。
オンラインの研修もまだ残っているのだが、家でやるよりも移動の電車内や外出先でやる方が捗った。
今回の研修は多様性がテーマだったのだが、イギリスは移民が多いこともあり、どの企業でも色々と配慮していることが伝わってくる。
カフェである程度研修を進めたのち、周辺を散策する。
夜はミュージカルを鑑賞。以前見た「バック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャー」を再度観た笑
特定のミュージカルを2回観たのは人生で初だ。
初めて見たときは、セリフの60%程度しか理解できなかったが、2回目は80%以上理解できたように思う。
サウンドトラックを聴き、映画も見て、台本も読んだので、頭に展開やセリフが刷り込まれていたのだろう。
口からセリフが出るようにもなったし、特定の教材を繰り返し声に出して学び、身体に定着させる学習の効果を感じた。
ちなみに、以下の記事にセリフなど含めてまとめている。
仕事現場で英語を話す時は、まだパッと言葉が出なかったりするので、現在取り組んでいる単語帳など、特定の教材を身体に染み込ませていきたい。
そして、何気にこれまでそこそこミュージカルを見るようになっていて、意外とハマっているのかもしれないなと気づいた。
せっかくロンドンにいるので、今後も定期的にミュージカルを観に行こうかと思う。
リスニングの練習にもなるので、この日の夜に早速3ヶ月先くらいまでの鑑賞予定を立てた。

英語を話す時に口が回ってない
頭の中で読むことと話すことは別。理解できていても実際に口に出すとスラスラと出てこない文章やフレーズがあることに改めて気付かされた。口に馴染ませるために極力声に出すようにしたい。
接続詞と口癖
日本語と同じように英語を話す時もよく使ってしまうフレーズがある。例えば "So" "Yea" "After" など次の文との繋ぎ目などによく使ってしまう。
日本語でも次の文章を考えている時に「えっと」などが入ったりもするが、考える間を取るためにいらないところでも使っていたりする。変に聞こえると思うので極力無くしていきたい。
接続詞の使い方も上手くないため、そこも改善していきたい。
来週の目標
タイムプレッシャー
同じ時間の中で読みこなせる文章量を増やすため、タイムプレッシャーをかけた上で読解やその他タスクに取り組みたい。
音読と教材の復習
特定の教材を音声付きで反復し、頭に叩き込むのが今の所で1番効果を感じている。単語帳は毎日行き帰りの電車の中で反復しているので、音声を使いながら継続的に取り組んでいきたい。
