近況の報告(英語)(英語や日本語の授業、DJの話など)

checking in!! great phrase!! thank you!!! Hi, I'm doing well! Next year, we're having a wedding ceremony (next January), so kind of preparing! I have been fortunate to be able to meet a number of students over this summer and not only teaching Japanese language but also began to focus on Japanese history and philosophy to those who have interests in culture behind Japanese language, so, I'm happy because I love learning and all the time whenever I try to learn, of course, I come to discover new aspects of it.

For example, one american friend of mine, he is christian and he asks me question like on what religion do you base your decisions? and i was like it's hard for me to say this one is only one answer because things are open to many interpretation , I think. And I ask myself, why would i think this way? is this my own thought and experience? or influenced by others I've met in the past? or something culturally inherited over centuries?? then I asked for my book of philosophy and ethics and it says like "Japanese mythology is something to do with multiple gods and animism which allows you to worship several gods such as god of sea, god of trees, mountains, river, rock and so on. So the origin of Japan has allowed you (nation) to be flexible to ideas/beliefs come from overseas and to form one unique interpretation/adaptation to blend/coexist several beliefs/religions". I think this description is amazing and well spot on to capture our mentality which doesn't necessarily rely on one single principle and hopefully enables me to answer my friend's question.

Sorry for the long sentence, appreciate your patience.

And DJ, yes , every now and then, I was lucky to play music. One time, I played DJ in front of my wife's relatives in Nagano. Interestingly, while djing with so much focus on it, I think my ears suddenly gets really sensitive and works very well enough to catch someone's chatting about their music taste (like i wanna hear some reggae...) then I was able to switch the music genre to their taste smoothly. That was so much fun and I was honored to see their surprised face and smile and jamming.

Second, I was invited to play dj at links bar in Nagoya (where I used to work as a DJ) for its 12th anniversary event! I played 70s, 80s(Footloose, Karma Chameleon,I Wanna Dance With Somebody and so on), Salsa, Japanese hip hop(Yellow Bucks, Bad Hop and so on), but songs for girls were missing, 😅

Third, I was lucky to have conversation with a South African guy on Native Camp(English conversation practice website) about music!!, Amapiano!! that was also a dream like experience, he says music is life and I agree. I asked about the meaning of the lyric of "Tshwala Bam [Feat. S.N.E & EeQue] " and I appreciate his explanation of it. Love it!!

Thank you for reading!! How about you??
