英検1級単語collateral:コロナ禍における無担保の融資について

今回はcollateral という単語に注目します。
ニュース記事はJapantimeさんから引用しています。
題材はコロナ禍における無担保の融資によって中小企業の経営が維持された、という話です。

collateral
英英辞書→(1)something pledged as security for the repayment of a loan, which can become forfeited in the event of loan default （ローン返済の担保として差し入れられるもので、貸し倒れの際には没収されるもの）→pledgedはgivenのような意味、forfeitedはlostのように捉えています。(2)additional but subordinate; secondary→付随する・二次的な　という意味もありますね。2002年のアーノルド・シュワルツェネッガーさんの主演の映画「コラテラル・ダメージ」というものがありますが、そこでの意味は「やむを得ない（副次的な）犠牲」のような意味で使われていたと思います。

例文
・The woman put up a diamond necklace as collateral for her loan. この女性はダイヤモンドのネックレスをローンの担保に入れた。

解説
・andは何と何を結ぶか？→interest- と collateral- と思われます。つまり、「実質的に、無利子かつ無担保の貸付（融資）」という意味ですね。
