In "Introducing Translation Studies", what did the author take Harry Potter for.
Following Toury's three-phase methodology, they did:

1. Place the TTs in their TT cultural systems;
2. 'Map' TT segments onto the ST equivalents;
3. Attempt to draw some generalizations regarding the translation strategies employed and the norm at work.

1. In Italy and Spain, the fact that books are translations is not stressed. Therefore, modifications would have been made from the original text to ensure acceptability.

2. In Spain and Italy, the two target texts deal with proper nouns in very different ways. The Spanish TT retains these names, while in the Italian TT, word play is used.

3. Spanish: Source Text oriented (retention) / Italian: Target text oriented (modification)
