Why do I want to study translation studies?

I want to write a light note before I travel to the UK for my masters degree on translation studies.
I originally had a philosophical interest in language.
The question of what is ‘the same’.
Are ‘Apple’ and ‘りんご’ the same?

Apart from that, I was uncomfortable with the idea of doing philosophy only inside ‘one’ language.
I felt that if the identity of a language is not properly questioned, there are aspects of it that are lost in the discussion of that identity.

I would like to study translation studies, which allows me to pursue both.
