マレーシアの河川

「川」って結構特別な感慨を持つものです。「あーあー、川の流れのように・・」「おだやかに」（美空ひばりさん）という歌詞も印象的ですね。
　RIVERS have a significant existent, indeed. "Ah, ah, like a river flow, so gently…"  We are familiar with those impressive lyrics. 
　ちなみに私の中でのNo.1はロンドンのテムズ川です。もうずっと昔になりますがロンドンで駐在業務をしていたとき、当時も抱えきれないストレスとの闘いで、金曜日になれば常にそのストレスは「あふれる」状態になり、しばしば、夜遅く、テムズ川とビッグベンに車を走らせたものです。最高の癒しスポット＋パワースポット。
    For reference, No.1 for me is Thames, London. Long and long time ago when I was working in London, I strongly remember that so often at Friday nights we went to Thames and Big Ben by car because always I got heavy stress there. It was extremely "relaxing and power spot", 

　さて、マレーシアでそれに相当するものは？　ストレスの量の違いから同じ観点での比較はできないですが・・
    Then, what can be in Malaysia ?
　昔は河川の役割は「ヒトとモノの運搬」が最大であったと思います。都市の建設に大きな力を発揮した。
    In the past, river has important function of the transportation of goods and human being. It helped greatly for the construction of the city.

　それは、今では「観光」に移り変わっているのでしょうね。一応私においても観光的に最も印象に残るのは、何といっても「マラッカ川」です。
   That was now replaced with Sightseeing. For me, the impressive river in Malaysia is Melaka River.

　マラッカに夜着いて、安宿に向かうところで、真っ先に出迎えてくれたのが、絢爛なマラッカ川。いきなり舞い上がったものです。ソロ旅でクルーズ船に乗ったりはしませんでしたが、家族と一緒ならぜひクルーズにも参加したい。早朝の散歩にもひときわ爽快です。夜はバー、レストランで喧騒を極めますが、早朝はゆったりと自分の時間にさせられます。
   Arriving at Melaka at night, then on the way to the lodge, I got the first welcome by the brilliant Melaka River. Immediately flying high !! There is  boat cruise. I wish I took it if I were with family. Also it was so refreshing in the morning walk along the Melaka River. I could have my own time there because of it was calm in the morning.  

　　そして、残念ながら適切な「次」を探すのが、この前の旅ではできませんでした。目的が他にありましたからね。もちろん川はあります。マラッカの次に行ったのがイポー。街の真ん中を流れるのが「キンタ川」で、川を挟んで東側が「新市街」、西側が「旧市街」と分けられる象徴的な川です。でも川は濁っていましたね・・
     And unfortunately I had no time to find the next to Melaka River, in Malaysia.  Of course there are rivers. In Ipoh, There is Kinta River, which is the border between NEW CITY (east side from Kinta), and OLD CITY (west side).

　（関係なくてすみませんが、キンタ川に架けられたたぶん主要な橋は、スペインのサンセバスチャンを流れるウルメア川に架けられた橋と雰囲気そっくりで、一人にんまりしてしまいました。）
     (Just for ref, it was so similar to the bridge over the Urumea River, San Sebastian.)  

　もう一つ。シンガポールからマレーシアに入った玄関先のジョホールバル。川の規模が違うので比較はできないのですが、せっかくの市街地中心の好立地で、夜市が立つ雰囲気良好な場所なので、もう少し開発に力を入れれば、観光拡大に大きく寄与するのは間違いない、と少々残念に感じました。
    And one more river in Johor Bahru, which is not large enough. I felt it pity a little bit that it should help a lot to develop the sightseeing business around there if they had more development there, because of supreme location and favorable atmosphere with night market there.

　余計なお世話ですみませんが、マラッカ以外にも、ぜひ頑張っていただければ、とマレーシア好きとして切に願う次第です。
   Just as a point of view of a Malaysia Lover, I wish it could be proceeding strongly in addition to Melaka.
