京都市電の思い出 July in Kyoto: nostalgic Kyoto streetcar
七月の京都
京都新聞7月4日夕刊で「旧京都市電軌道敷ひょっこり」という記事がありました。西大路通で最後の市電（路面電車、「チンチン電車」と呼んでました）を見送ったのを懐かしく思い出しました。
7月10日から祇園祭（前祭）の山・鉾建ても始まりました。市電が走ってた頃は、祇園さんの時は運休したり折り返し運転したりしてたなぁ。。。

In the July 4th evening edition of the Kyoto Shimbun, there was an article titled "A Surprise Discovery of the Old Kyoto City Tram Tracks." It brought back memories of seeing off the last tram (which we used to call 'Chin Chin Densha') on Nishioji Street. On July 10th, the construction of the Yamahoko floats for the Gion Festival (Saki Matsuri) also began. Back when the trams were running, I remember they used to suspend service or turn around during the Gion Festival.
