雨過天晴を疑う

雨過晴天いう言葉があります。
ひどい雨もいつかか晴れることを人生に例え、物事が好転していく様を表現しています。

しかし、現代の実社会において、雨があがるように物事が勝手に良くなることがあるのかと想像すると、よほどの状況を進んで作り出さない限り勝手に好転することがないことの方がほとんどです。

そして目も当てられない現実ですが、「心配しないで。雨はいずれ上がる。」みたいな耳障りのいいことを言ってくる人ほど、こちらが実際に困ったときに身を挺して助けてくれず、上がらない雨を抱えて生きていってるような人の方が助けてくれたりします。

この社会は、ちょっと引いたところから眺めているぐらいの付き合い方でちょうどいいかもしれません。

There is a Japanese phrase, "wu ka ten sei" (rain will pass and the sky will clear).
It is an analogy of life, and it describes how even a terrible rain will clear up someday, and things will turn around.
However, in today's real world, when we imagine that things can improve on their own like the rain, it is almost impossible for things to improve on their own unless we willingly create a situation that is better than the one we are used to.
And the blind reality is, "Don't worry. The rain will come." The more people who say such grating words as "Don't worry, the rain will come up sooner or later," the less they are willing to help us when we are actually in trouble, and the more they are willing to help us when we are living with the rain that won't come up.
This society may be just right for us to have a relationship with people who are looking at it from a slightly detached point of view.
