海外で知られている日本の文化
英語人と友だちになると、
「日本語知ってるよ～」
といって、よく言ってくる単語がある。
時代とともによく変化するが、誤解されていることも多い。
ちゃんと訂正してあげよう。
実は、日本を説明する英語が、一番難しい。
普段使わないボキャブラリが多いからだ。
説明するときは、必ず
わかりやすい単語で定義

例えば、こんな感じ：
"geisha"（芸者）
Geisha were female artists who entertained guests with songs and dances at Japanese restaurants. They wear kimono and the white makeup so can easily be recognized. We only see them in Kyoto and a few other places now. They are not prostitutes but art performers so they need extensive training from youth.
芸者は、着物やおしろいをつけて、レストランで歌やダンスを披露する女性。今では京都など特定の場所でしか見ない。
売春婦ではなくてパフォーマー、若いころからたくさんの練習をしなければならない。
"samurai"（さむらい）
Samurai were the military soldiers that existed for hundreds of years. They are similar to knight in the Medieval Europe, but different because it was a class in the society which had to be passed down for generations.
Now we do not see samurai, because there is no longer a system of class in society, like India's caste system.
侍は何百年と続いたミリタリーの戦士。中世ヨーロッパの騎士に似ているが、何世代にもわたって受け継がれたという意味で騎士とは違う。
今は、侍は存在しない。インドのカースト制度のような社会の階級はないからだ。
