いつまで続くガソリン等補助金で，上昇志向が空々しく聞こえる日：2024年11月3日（日）

世の中は，いつから，こんなにもつまらないものになってしまったのだろうか。「上昇志向でありたい」という言葉が，何か空々しく聞こえてくるようだ。

　燃料油価格激変緩和措置としてのガソリン等補助金は，これまでに数々の期限延長が繰り返され，この年末時点で2022年1月からの累計で約7兆円に達する見込みだ。さらに，延長する雰囲気さえも漂っている。この国では3年以上も緊急時が続いているのか。きっと，このまま行くと，ずっと緊急時になるのかもしれない。石油元売会社は，笑いが止まらないのではないか？「国際情勢が不安定になってくれると，国からの補助金の支給が増えて，ガソリンや軽油など石油製品の利幅が拡がってくれるやさかい，ホンマありがたいわ」との声が聞こえてきそうだ。

　最近の日本社会の質的劣化の加速化と閉塞感を考えると，気分は本当にしんどい。闇バイトによる意味不明の強盗事件の多発による危険な社会，自然災害の激甚化とそれに対応できていない応急態勢，若者の教育水準の急降下など，かなりの閾値レベルまで来ており，近いうちに日本は「失われた30年」どころか，先進国から脱落するかもしれないと，残念ながら，思わざるをえない。

　大学から自宅までの自転車での通勤途上で，こんな事について考えを巡らしながら，赤信号の交差点で停止した際に，思わず「あー」と大きなため息が出てしまった。信号待ちで立っていた歩行者を驚かしてしまい，大変申し訳ないことをしてしまった。

When did the world become so dull? The phrase “I want to be ambitious” sounds strangely hollow.

The subsidies for gasoline and other fuel prices, intended to ease the impact of sharp price changes, have seen multiple extensions and are expected to total around 7 trillion yen by the end of this year since they were first introduced in January 2022. There is even talk of extending them further. Has this country really been in a state of emergency for over three years? If this keeps up, it may be an endless state of emergency. One wonders if the oil refiners are laughing all the way to the bank. You can almost hear them saying, “When international conditions get unstable, we get more subsidies from the government, so profit margins on products like gasoline and diesel expand. We’re truly grateful.”

Considering the accelerated decline in the quality of Japanese society and the pervasive sense of stagnation, it’s genuinely exhausting. With the rise in senseless robberies linked to “dark part-time” jobs creating a dangerous society, increasingly severe natural disasters outpacing emergency response capabilities, and the sharp drop in educational standards among young people, it seems Japan has reached a critical threshold. Sadly, it’s hard to avoid the feeling that Japan might not only face another “lost 30 years” but may even risk falling out of the ranks of advanced nations altogether.

While cycling home from university and mulling over such thoughts, I stopped at a red light and inadvertently let out a loud sigh. I ended up startling a pedestrian waiting at the crosswalk, and I felt quite sorry for causing them alarm.
