アンスリウム （ANTHURIUM）


オモダカ目、サトイモ科、アンスリウム属の
熱帯アメリカを原産とする多年生植物となる。

和名は、大紅団扇 （オオベニウチワ）と見た
ままの姿の名称となっている。

空気の浄化能力にとても長けている植物の
ひとつに数えられている植物でもある。


我々を取り巻く環境下には有害物質があり
ホルムアルデヒド、トルエン、キシレン、
アンモニア等の人体に有害とされるこれら
物質の事を指して、VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUND、これを略してVOCと呼ぶ。
アンスリウムはこれら揮発性有機化合物と
呼ばれる物質を気中から吸い上げると分解
してしまう植物なのである。シックハウス
症候群などの言葉を訊くが、これらが原因
物質となって、人に対してアレルギー反応
など引き起こすのである。


こんな植物の空気清浄研究を発表したのは
正式名称『 NATIONAL AERONAUTICS
AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION 』
通称 ＮＡＳＡ、米国航空宇宙局、である。

ANTHURIUM

It is a perennial plant native to tropical America, belonging to the Araceae family and Anthurium genus, with the common name "Oobeni Uchiwa" due to its appearance resembling a large red folding fan.

This plant excels in air purification, capable of absorbing and breaking down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, and ammonia.

NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, officially introduced research on the air-purifying properties of such plants, particularly Anthurium, addressing issues like Sick Building Syndrome caused by harmful substances triggering allergies in humans.

いつか人類は、当たり前の様に地球を離れた
宇宙空間に飛び出して、星間移動や宇宙居住
なんてものも現実になる時代が来るだろう。


そんな遠からず、近くもない未来に向けての
スペースステーション、スペースコロニーで
人類がお供として宇宙へ持っていける植物の
研究をしているのである。


限られた空間の中、デジタルな機械に頼らず
アナログながらも空気を清浄化させてくれる
植物は省エネにもつながるし、ヒーリングや
リラクゼーション効果をもつ優れもの。
その中でも水分消費の少なくてすむ多肉植物
などは最適なパートナーとなると考えられる。


アンスリウムは人類の新たなるステージ空間
へと連れていかれる植物の有力候補のひとつ
なのである。


さて、アンスリウムはＮＡＳＡが発表した
五つの植物のうちの何位なのであろう。
それは、この五つを紹介した後に明らかに
しようと思う。

In the not-so-distant yet not-so-close future, research is being conducted on plants that can accompany humanity into space, focusing on space stations and colonies. Within the confines of limited space, plants, relying on analog methods rather than digital machinery, not only purify the air but also contribute to energy efficiency, providing healing and relaxation effects. Among them, succulent plants with low water consumption are considered optimal partners.

Anthurium stands out as a promising candidate among the plants that could lead humanity into the new frontier of space.

Now, I wonder which rank Anthurium holds among the five plants announced by NASA. I intend to reveal that after introducing these five.

やっぱり、植物がないと無機質な空間である。

いくつかの写真に植物のある空間を混在させた。
多分、植物がそこに存在するだけで、大きく印象
が変わったと思う。それだけ、我々は植物による
恩恵だけでなく、癒しや慈しみの気持ちを彼らに
教えられているのである。

もしも来年、宇宙に突然移民が確定したのなら
あなたは宇宙空間のお供に何の植物を持っていく
のであろう。

I interspersed spaces with plants in several photos. Perhaps, just the presence of plants significantly changed the impression. It shows that not only do we benefit from plants, but they also teach us feelings of healing and tenderness.
