この植物は高温多湿閑居を好むものでこの
植物の葉は立体的な形状となるものである。

そんな葉の中でも特別に大きく膨らんでる
一見すると果物の様に肥大して膨らんでる
ものは水を蓄える為の器官、貯水嚢となる。

写真に写るのは大きな袋がひとつ付いてるが
何年もの歳月を経て、この大きな塊が幾つも
ぶら下がる姿となり、それはそれで面白い。


この塊の中に棲みついてしまう蟻（アリ）が
いるのだが、これはカンガルーポケットに
とっては、不法侵入や迷惑行為かと思えば
共生関係になるものである。


アリと共生関係を組むと云うことは、貯水
巣として水の豊富な居住エリアを提供する
代わりに、植物にとり外敵となりうる害虫
を排除してくれる用心棒役としてのアリの
活躍があるというもの。この世の中はそう
捨てたものではなく、持ちつ持たれつ関係
でハッピープランが成立というものである。
花言葉もそのまんま『平和』であって誠に
めでたしめでたしである。

KANGAROO POCKET

Genus Pandorea in the family Bignoniaceae, native to Australia, is an evergreen, twining, perennial epiphytic plant.

This plant prefers a warm and humid environment, and its leaves take on a three-dimensional shape.

Among those leaves, the ones that conspicuously swell, appearing to enlarge like fruits, serve as organs for water storage, forming water storage bladders.

In the photo, there's one prominent pouch attached, but over many years, this large cluster evolves into a captivating sight with numerous dangling pouches, creating an intriguing spectacle.

Despite ants taking residence within this cluster, it forms a symbiotic relationship with the Kangaroo Pocket plant. What might seem like trespassing or a nuisance becomes a mutualistic association.

Forming a symbiotic relationship with ants means that they act as diligent bouncers, eliminating pests that could pose a threat to plants, while in return, providing a water-rich habitat as their nesting grounds. This interconnected world operates on mutual support, creating a happy balance. The language of flowers perfectly encapsulates it as "peace," truly a delightful and auspicious situation.
