北山黄蓮 （キタヤマオウレン）


キツネノボタン科、オウレン属の多年生植物


梅花黄蓮（バイカオウレン）に酷似するが
２０１２年、国内で発見された新種となる。


この白い花弁に見えるものは、萼片であるが
バイカオウレンは丸味を帯びているのに対し
キタヤマオウレンは細長い形状をしている。


また、本当の意味での花弁は、クリーム色の
匙状（サジジョウ）のが、それにあたるもの
であり、ここには蜜腺が通っており、虫達は
蜜を求めこの花弁に集まる。バイカオウレン
のものは黄色〜山吹色で黄色味が濃いのだが
キタヤマオウレンのそれはやや優しい色味を
しているので見分けがつく。


バイカオウレンと本種の違いは、萼片の形状
が細くて繊細な雰囲気がある事と、優しい色
をした匙状花弁と、どちらもが女性的な美が
こちらにはある様に思われる。


こちらもオウレンの他の仲間達と同様に夏前
には、地上部が全て幻の様に跡形もなくなる
スプリングエフェメラルの性質をもち、翌年
の早い春の時期までは地中の茎でひっそりと
息をひそめて耐えしのぶ植物である。

Perennial plant of the Foxglove family, Genus Ouren


Resembling the Baika Ouren (Plum Blossom Yellow Lotus), this species was discovered domestically in 2012.


What appears to be white petals are actually sepals, distinguishing it from the Baika Ouren, which has a rounded shape, while the Kitayama Ouren has a slender form.


The true petals are cream-colored spoon-shaped structures with nectar glands, attracting insects seeking nectar. Baika Ouren tends to have a more intense yellow to ochre color, while Kitayama Ouren exhibits a slightly gentler hue, making it distinguishable.


The differences between Baika Ouren and this species include the delicate and slender atmosphere of the sepals, the gentle-colored spoon-shaped petals, and an overall feminine beauty.


Similar to other members of the Ouren family, this plant, like a spring ephemeral, disappears entirely above ground before summer, quietly enduring underground until the early spring of the following year.
