East African life.

You're wondering why that picture this is how the some community celebrated there initiation. About how many tribes are there let me answer you this way if you talk about my country we have more than 120 tribes lol .

Hii 🙂 it's me Karen and I also like to introduce to you my best japanese friend Yuuka .

So today is still all about the life in Africa. I'll one day take my time to write to you how we got independence I'm going to focus on my country and the country I'm currently doing my studies in Kenya and maybe share a link to how South Africa got independence. To say the truth even if I wasn't there it was a painful history. Anyway story short let us come back to the crazy initiation rituals.Stay tuned ☺️.

Initiation rituals .

Rituals actually mean activities that took place they were crazy .
1) offered sacrifices to  ancestors .
2) seclusion of the initiates .
3) singing and dancing.
4) giving gifts and presents
5) washing and shaving the hair .
6) giving new names and wearing of new attires .

Moral values acquired during initiation.

a) respect for others .
b) loyalty
c) endurance.
d) chastity.
e) self - control.
f) solidarity.
e) courage .

Significance of initiation rites .

Initiate become full member of the community.
The rites introduces on individuals the secrets and traditions of the community.
The initiates acquire a new status in life where  he /she is considered as a mature person.
It gives an opportunity for one to access higher responsibilities in the community e.g marriage.
Trains  the initiate to acquire virtues of endurance and courage to face challenges in life .
The initiates are linked to the ancestors through shedding of the blood .
Members of the community get united through their participation in the rites .
The prayers and sacrifices offered serve as acts of worship.

Some of my people wished to continue with this rites and rituals , however, there were some factors that led this to fail .

Some factors like .
Christianity.
This is because Christianity condems rituals associated with initiations.
Government policy .
It has banned some of the harmful practices that they practiced e.g F.G.M ( female genital mutilation) .
Human rights lobby groups which gives no time for the rights and gives the youth alternative ways of acquiring skills and values .
Migration.
Leads to mixing various cultures and hence the decline in participation cultural practices.
Economic.
Hardships make it difficult to hold elaborate initiation celebrations.
Modern medical technology.
Has attracted many initiates than the traditional surgeons .
Western lifestyle.
Which has led to decline in traditional moral values .

Many Africans are religious by this  I mean there are christians and Muslim . This can lead us to more and more topics anyway this is just how my ancestors lived .
Stay tuned I want to talk next about me myself in this week 😄 .  Thank you so much for reading my article ☺️ oh I would also like to write about my experience in note .
