14000 Nuclear Bombs We Have. Dr.Soko Day28/50
The Weapon Keep Hurting Humans for Decades After War. Necessary?
This is not the end of Nobuko's story, it still continues 75 years later. Nobuko is now 90 years old.
After the war, it was difficult for survivors to live. They had to live with the anxiety they would get a cancer. Not only a body but their mind has been hurt very much for decades since the war.
The rumor of the general public continued for many years, as tacit common sense, that the hibakusha cannot marry because they cannot have children.
People suffering from burns, of course, have suffered pain for many years. Not only that, but also unwounded people had to fight leukemia and cancer.
More than PTSD throughout a Life
Aunt Nobuko moved to Tokyo several years after the atomic bomb. Even if she wanted to go back to my hometown of Hiroshima, she didn't go back to Hiroshima because she remembers the sight of that river. Her brain let her see the realistic flashbacks as if she got back that moment. Every time when she would come back to Hiroshima, the smell and the scene of the city came back in her sight and hurt her mind.
Nobuko had breast cancer twice. She also had colon cancer, uterus cancer and thyroid cancer.
Hibakusya Feeling Guilty to Children
When her child got sick, she said, "I am sorry! That's my fault! I'm sorry!"
Aunt Nobuko, who was 90 years old, wanted to convey her experience. She has kept her painful memory inside of her for 75 years. But she finally told me the story of the atomic bomb, because she wants PEACE for all the people over the world and all the children in the future. She wants people over the world to know that we still keep nuclear weapons. (We currently have 14.900 nuclear weapons on our home earth.) She wants to tell that we, people live on the earth need to tie hands together for the renunciation of nuclear weapons.
Do We Need Nuclear Weapon on Our Earth?
Do weapons need to afflict people after the war? Even after the war ended, those who were bombed fell ill. They suffered mentally, and felt their guilty for their children. Is such a weapon really necessary? Nuclear weapons have plagued and made people ill for decades, but do you think they are really needed? We have 14900 shots on Earth. That means, we, humans have a large number of weapons as to break our home earth easily. Have you seen a burned child's photo? Please take a look at that. That is the child's voice through his/her life, for people live in this time.
The Power of Nuclear Weapons
First of all, we need to know the fact of our belongings on our home earth.
The 15 kiloton uranium-type atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima killed 140,000 people (the population of Hiroshima city at that time was 350,000) by the end of 1945.
By the end of 1945, 74,000 people had died (population 270,000) from a dropped 121 kiloton plutonium-type atomic bomb in Nagasaki.
Now, let me introduce an article on HUFF POST, which compares the power of nuclear weapons used in nuclear tests.
The differences in the power of the following nuclear bombs are displayed in a visually easy-to-understand manner. This article was posted on August 7, 2015. But still very good to learn the fact. Please take a look. (Link)
The power of the bomb "Little Boy" dropped on Hiroshima is 15 kilotons.
The power of the bomb "Fat man" dropped on Nagasaki is 121 kilotons.
1952 nuclear test "Ivy King" at Marshall Islands, 500 kilotons
"B53" developed by the United States during the Cold War, 9,000 kilotons
1954 nuclear test "Castle Bravo" at Bikini Atoll, 15,000 kilotons
Hydrogen bomb Tsar Bomba 50,000 kilotons developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War
The Number of Total Nuclear Bombs
