First Aid Station2 "Hiroshima Aunt Saw" 75 Years Dr.Soko Day19/50

Lines For Having Treatments

Nobuko joined in line for injured people in front of the tent marked with a red cross. In the tent, people who couldn't move were lying down on the ground. It looked like a nurse and a doctor in a white coat who were bending over to see a growling person.

When Nobuko's turn finally came around, a young nurse looked like Nobuko's big sister covered her feet with gauze.

"Thank you so much."
When Nobuko thanked her, the nurse told.
"It has started distributing food in the tent next door, so go ahead as soon as possible."

The soldier with glasses was waiting for Nobuko at the exit of the first aid tent. They lined up with her to get dry bread.
"There's nothing more than limited disinfection and bandages here. I don't think people lying on the floor can have treatment well, unfortunately.

Disaster Certificate

"Nobuko-chan, line up here. Write down your name."
She lined up in another line as recommended by the soldier, and wrote her name and address with a pencil on the notebook on the desk. Then I was given a piece of paper with the letters written on it and read i.
"Disaster certificate"
It was written so.

"You should keep it."

Hearing the soldiers' words, Nobuko immediately put the paper in her pocket.

DISASTER CERTIFICATE                                                               Nobuko was unaware of the importance of Disaster Certificate at that time. Thanks for the soldier giving her attention to it, she got the disaster certificate this time, and she was able to get A-bomb victim certificate smoothly, which provided medical support an A-bomb victim by the government later. Many victims did not know that they would need long-lasting medical care from that time on. So some victims who did not get the disaster certificate, they may have had difficult time to take medical care.

"Well, where will Nobuko-chan go from now on? Will you return to Kure?"
Nobuko stayed silent for a while, but she saw the soldier's eyes and answered.
" I definitely want to go beyond the bridge to find my grandma. But... the bridge where there are the dead horses is so scary that I can't cross it. I know I have no choice but to cross... I really want to go though."

"Hey, it's not just you. Everyone is scared. Everyone's legs quiver. You are courageous, Nobuko-chan. You came to Hiroshima alone to find your loving grandma. You are a really bright and gentle girl. Okay. Let's make a detour together to get over the river in a different way. But from there, I will  go my own way, so you have to go your way.  Are you okay with it?"

"It's helpful.."

Nobuko did not know why, but she could not speak smoothly like as usual. She just bowed deeply to the young soldier.
