Genesis chapters 10 -11

You are Not making any sense

In chapter 10 we get the list of the table of Nations, descendants from Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood. The one name that usually stands out to most people is Nimrod, He was a mighty hunter Before the Lord. The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in Shinar. From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Calah, and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is The great city. From here we get the Tower of Babel in chapter eleven, this is where they build a city with a great tower stretching to the heavens as the description implies. The people had one common language and they decided to accomplish this great building project. One --so they could reach to heaven, thereby getting God's attention and having him come down at their request. Two – They could make a name for themselves. Third – They would remain where they are and not be dispersed over all the earth. The problem with all this is God does not come at our command, no matter what we build. The name they should have been making known was God's not their own and last, they were commanded to multiply and fill the earth, not remain in on location.   God's response, he came down, but not in the way they had hoped. God confuses their language and they stop building the city and are scattered over all the earth. This also the point in history where God washes his hands, in a manner of speaking with all the nations (people groups). This was part of his plan, from an outsider looking in It probably seemed like he had disowned them, it looked Like God had had enough. This however was the plan. Why do I think that? Let us take a look at the book of Deuteronomy chapter 32 verses 7-9, Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will For the Lord's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance. When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to In the Masoretic the text this reads "according to the number of the sons of Israel" The sons of God reading also matches the dead sea scroll for Deuteronomy 32 from Scroll 4Q37. God disinherited The nations. "Israel was not even a people group or a nation when God divided up the nations and put them under the authority of spiritual beings, sons of God to watch over and take care of them. Then guess what God does next? He calls Abram and tells him “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. There is a lot going on behind the curtain so to speak, but we do get a glimpse.

Next – Behind the curtain, is a Job nobody wants.
