The “Babies First” Movement, organized by Junior Chamber International Japan, aims to create a society where people want to give birth and raise children. This initiative seeks to foster an environment where pregnant women, new mothers, and families with children can thrive, involving collaboration among businesses, local governments, and individuals. Participating municipalities and companies will develop specific plans of action based on their action declarations to help bring about a kinder society that nurtures children in our community.

Bringing About a Society Where it is Easy to Raise Children

A Fun Thanksgiving Stateside with Family

Every year on the fourth Thursday of November we celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family over a delicious meal. In my family, none of us are especially excited about the traditional foods offered (although we do enjoy a leftover turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich the day after). Last year was perhaps the most typical holiday we have ever spent. We drove three hours to my Aunt Maria’s home near New Hope, Pennsylvania where many relatives joined. My dad came with my niece, and cousins I haven’t seen since I was a child myself (and all of our children!) were in attendance. It was potluck style with everyone bringing their own dish, and we also enjoyed some catered offerings.

After eating and eating, the kids (and myself) gathered around the television to watch Elf, starring Will Ferrell. I highly recommend if needing a good laugh. Then they made homemade ornaments. It of course wasn’t Christmas; however, we knew we wouldn’t be back to see them at Christmas time so it was a nice opportunity to celebrate both. After that, the kids all ran around outside and I caught my dad taking a nap in a big cozy chair. I’m so glad we made the effort to be there. Sending out a blessing to cherish and be thankful for the family members you care about and love.
