Weekly question #5 What kinds of tasks do you avoid doing?

This article will be about the weekly question from 英語手帳 2024.

Weekly question: What kind of tasks do you avoid doing?

Everyone probably tends to avoid unpleasant tasks. I do, too.

What are unpleasant tasks for me?

Houseworks: cleaning, cooking, and washing dishes

I have posted some articles about cooking in the past. Actually, I'm not good at cooking and I don't want to cook if I don't need to. So, I try to cook as simple as I can. I avoid cooking menus that are difficult and take time to cook.

My husband doesn't cook. When he lived alone, he always went to the convenience store to buy his dinner. I was surprised to see the gas stove covered with dust. That's the main reason why I cook. If we do have more restaurants nearby or it is affordable enough to eat out often, I would rather prefer that way.

My daily cooking menus, especially in winter, are hot pot dishes. I only need to cut vegetables and meat. Then heat and boil them up with soup stocks. I also like to cook in rice bowl style. You don't need to prepare many dishes to put the food in. Washing dishes are a lot easier to do afterward. My husband doesn't mind the cooking style. I appreciate him about that. He is satisfied as long as he likes the taste.

For instance, the rice bowl I often cook is like this. I use the chicken soup stock as the main taste. Then, add miso paste and gochujang (Korean red chili paste). You can adjust the amount of gochujang if you don't like spicy food. These ingredients are one of my standard seasonings.

What shall I cook tomorrow? Thinking of daily menus are sometimes frustrating, isn't it?

Thank you for reading my note.
