• 爆発の映像を分析した専門家の多くが、爆発はリチウムバッテリーによるものではなく、爆薬がポケベル内部に仕掛けられていた可能性が高いと指摘している。

• ポケベルは台湾メーカーの製品だが、メーカーは約３年前からハンガリーの会社と提携し、メーカーのブランド商標の使用と製造・販売はその会社に任せていたため、今回のポケベルの製造・販売には関わっていないと主張。

２．誰による犯行か？

• レバノン政府やヒズボラはイスラエルによる犯行と断定しており、ヒズボラは報復を宣言している。

• ニューヨークタイムズ紙は、イスラエルがポケベルのサプライチェーンに侵入し爆薬を仕掛け、遠隔操作で爆発させたと報道した。

• ポケベルは６カ月前にヒズボラが新しく入手したもので、その前からサプライチェーンに侵入していたとすると、長期の諜報活動と計画が必要と考えられ、その規模からイスラエルの諜報機関による犯行と見ている専門家が多い。
