西成にあるアート拠点やアートな場所を紹介します。
西成や西成のアートに関心を持つ方にむけて、まちあるきコースとして歩いたり、興味のある場所に足を運ぶきっかけにしていただけたら。
①釜ヶ崎芸術大学・ココルーム
2003年から。喫茶店のふりをしたアートNPO。35ベッドのゲストハウス。年間を通じてさまざまなワークショップなどを開く。玄関先はバザー。年中無休。カフェ10:00~20:00 https://cocoroom.org/

②ギャラリーMaDo
山王訪問看護ステーションの自転車置き場を改装したまちかどギャラリー。看護師さんたちとともにさまざまな人々が関わり運営している。ベンチプロジェクト、畑などユニークな活動を展開。https://sanno-kango.com/

③関帝廟
2023年12月から。中国人経営者らの親睦団体「大阪華商会（かしょうかい）」（同区）が、中国で商売の神様として信仰されている関羽、海の女神である「媽祖（まそ）」をまつる。

④猫塚（松乃木大明神）
1901（明治34）年、三味線は芸事に欠かせないものであり、猫の供養のために遊芸関係者によって建てられたそう。猫塚は三味線の胴のかたち。また近松門左衛門の碑は同年、第5回内国勧業博覧会のため天王寺公園内から現在地に移されたといわれる。

⑥歴史：飛田新地の嘆きの壁 門のあと
飛田遊郭は1912年（明治45年）に難波の遊郭が火事で全焼し、1916年（大正5年）に移転。22,600坪。売春防止法（1957年（昭和32年）の施行後は「料亭」に。遊郭は撮影禁止

⑦勝手に「出窓ギャラリー」
このお家に住むおじさんが季節ごとに展示替えをされていて、いつも勝手に楽しませてもらってます。ドラッグストアのところにも！

⑧「ホステル松の木」の松林
画家：林圭介による松林の四季。若冲や鳥獣戯画などをリスペクトして、ベニヤ板に直接描いている。

⑨助六
昭和30年代の雰囲気の食堂。表のメニュー棚にアーティストの作品がこっそり展示されている。

⑩日の出湯
脱衣場の天井画は絵師木村英輝 氏による108匹の鯉の絵。サウナ、酸素カプセル、駄菓子屋もあり、おすすめの銭湯です。

⑪ありがとう地蔵
山王は戦争で焼けず、かつては20ほどの地蔵があったそう。出世地蔵は盗まれたが、近所のおばあちゃんが描いたありがとう地蔵が鎮座している。

アーティストランのギャラリーとスタジオ。年に４回の展覧会を企画。

昭和感ただよう角打ちが試作酒場に。ときには展覧会も開催される。

⑭ハモニカ長屋
ハモニカの形をした古い長屋。山王地域は戦争のときに、火事をまぬがれ往時の建物が残っている。この建物をいかしたいと考え、2024年にNPOを立ち上げた。

元タンス店を活用した創造活動拠点。「NISHINARI YOSHIO」は、美術家・西尾美也が、地域の女性たちとの共同制作により立ち上げた西成発のファッションブランド。

⑰てんのじ村の碑
1400年以上の前の四天王寺界隈には雅楽などを演奏する人たち伶人(れいじん) が住んでいた。戦前には、ミヤコ蝶々など、かつて400人ほどの芸人が助け合って住んでいた。

桂米朝一門を中心とした常設寄席。

布亀
⑲メンズ服屋さん。かつては労働者のための作業着を販売していて職人さんもいたそう。機能性とかっこよさを追求した「布亀型」と呼ばれる作業ズボンなどをつくっていたそう。店主から、労働者と職人の間に信頼関係があったことを聞きました。

耳が喜ぶ音楽バー。300万円ほどのオーディオ装置、スピーカーはタンノイ。

㉑OS劇場
大衆演劇場。芝居・舞踊歌謡ショーをセットにして公演している。ほぼ１ヶ月ごとに一座が入れ替わる。

Kamagasaki University of the Arts, Cocoroom
Began in 2003. An art NPO pretending to be a café. A guesthouse with 35 beds. Holds many different workshops throughout the year. There is a used goods shop in front. Open every day of the year. Café open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Gallery MaDo
The street corner gallery that remodeled Sanno Visiting Nurse Station’s bicycle parking area. Many kinds of people work with the nurses in management. Develops unique activities such as the bench project and gardens.

Kanteibyo
Began in December 2023. The Chinese proprietors, the fellowship group Osaka Chinese Merchants Association, enshrine Mazu, the goddess of the sea, and Guan Yu, followed in China as the god of commerce.

Nekozuka (Matsu no Ki Daimyojin)
In 1901 (Meiji 34), the shamisen was essential to performing arts, and this shrine was apparently built by people involved in the arts to memorialize cats, whose skin was used to make shamisen. Nekozuka is shaped after the body of a shamisen.
It is also said that the Chikamatsu Monzaemon monument was moved in the same year to its present location from Tennoji Park for the Fifth National Industrial Fair.

History: Tobita Shinchi’s Wailing Wall and remains of the gate
The Tobita red light district came here in 1916 (Taisho 5) after the Namba red light district was completely destroyed in a fire in 1912 (Meiji 45). About 74,500 square meters. It became “restaurants” after the enacting of the Anti-Prostitution Law in (1957 (Meiji 32)). Pictures are prohibited in the red light district.

Unofficial “Bay Window Gallery”
The man who lives in this house changes the exhibition with the seasons, and we always enjoy it. There’s another near the drug store!

“Matsu no Ki Hostel” pine forest
Four seasons of a pine forest by painter Keisuke Hayashi. Drawn directly on plywood with respects to Jakuchu and the Scrolls of Frolicking Animals.

Sukeroku
A diner with the atmosphere of the 1950’s. Works of artists are secretly displayed on the menu shelf in front.
Open 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Closed on Wednesdays

Hinodeyu
A painting of 108 koi fish by the painter Hideki Kimura is on the ceiling of the changing room. A recommended public bath with a sauna, oxygen capsules, and snack shop.
Open 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. Open 11:00 am to 11:00 pm only on Tuesdays

Gratitude Jizo
Sanno was not burnt in the war, and apparently once had around 20 Jizo. A career success Jizo was stolen, but now a gratitude Jizo drawn by a local old lady is enshrined.

A liquor store and bar with a Showa period feel, turned experimental pub. Also sometimes holds exhibitions.

kioku handicrafts house “Drawers”
A creative activities location using an old drawer shop. “NISHINARI YOSHIO” is a Nishinari fashion brand started by collaboration of artist Yoshinari Nishio and local women.

Tennoji Mura Monument
Court musicians who performed gagaku music lived around Shitennoji more than 1,400 years ago. Before WWII, about 400 entertainers such as Miyako Cho-cho lived here supporting each other.

Nunokame
A men’s wear store. Used to sell work clothes for laborers, and apparently even had special craftsmen. They made things like work pants called Kamagasaki-gata, which pursued both form and function. The proprietor says the laborers and the craftsmen had a relationship of trust.

Classical Music Bar Cocoroom
A bar to please the ears. The Tannoy audio equipment and speakers are worth about 3 million yen.

OS Theater
A theater of the masses. Plays and singing and dancing shows are performed here. The performance is switched out about every month.
