September 8, 2021：横断歩道を直し隊 ( Reprint Zebra Crossing)

 I joined a workshop yesterday and met a very interesting gentleman called Hiro san who has engaged in a very valuable activity. In Japan, there are many zebra crossings, some of which are erased in whole or in part. He has engaged in the activity of reprinting these crossings. For the activity, he get qualified as a certified administrative procedures legal specialist and aggressively approach the police and other governmental agencies. I am moved by his good point of view and aggressive actions.
 When I returned to Japan from Europe for the first time in a few years, I was surprised and horrified to see that “motor vehicles are always prioritized over pedestrians” in Japan. Even now, few drivers stop at a zebra crossing. It is very strange to me that no police officer stands in front of a zebra crossing to check drivers who get a ticket for not stopping at the crossing. Further, pavements are not fully developed and maintained in Japan. I believe that a pavement could prevent the fatal accident in which a primary school child was killed by a truck. 
 Japan's government should change to a human-oriented road policy.

　最近参加したワークショップで、有意義な活動をされているヒロさん（通称）に出会いました。全国には、多くの横断歩道がありますが、中には、消えかけていたり、ほとんど原型を止めていないものもあります。ヒロさんは、こうした消えかけた横断歩道を修理する活動をされています。この活動のために、行政書士の資格を取得され、警察等の行政機関と交渉されているそうです。着眼点が素晴らしいと同時、アグレッシブに行動されていることに感銘しました。
　ボクは、欧州から帰国したときに、日本では「自動車が歩行者より優先が優先されていると痛感しました。今でもそうですが、信号のない横断歩道に立っても、ほとんどの車が止まりません。警察は、なんで横断歩道の前に立って、違反車両に反則切符を切らないのかと不思議です。また、日本は自動車を優先してきたため、歩道の整備も不十分です。先日も、千葉県で小学生がトラックにはねられる死亡事故がありましたが、歩道があれば事故は防げたと思います。「人」中心の道路行政に変わるべきです。
