June 14, 2022: Tap Water in the UK, Hard Water, Prank! （英国の水道水、硬水、ドッキリ!）

     I drank mineral water in the UK, too. The tap water was hard. It contained so much calcium chloride that the white stains covered my kitchen sink. It discouraged me from drinking it, and I  bought mineral water for drinking. In particular, I never gave it to my daughter. But it has rich minerals and moderate health benefits. It is said to have developed English tea. Indeed, it tasted so good when I drank it in the UK.
     The British tap water reminded me of my wife having fooled me. She had given me the tap water at dinner in secret. One day, she found mineral water out of stock and conceived of filling tap water with an empty mineral water bottle. It was very successful. I had not noticed it, and she smirked at it inwardly. It was after we returned to Japan that she revealed it to me.

　英国でも、飲み水は主にミネラルウォーターでした。英国の水は硬質でカルキがたくさん含まれています。キッチンのシンクが真っ白になるくらいです。これを見て、水道水を飲む気が失せ、主にミネラルウォーターを飲んでしました。特に、娘には水道水を飲ませないようにしていました。でも、この硬水が紅茶に向いているようです。確かに、英国で紅茶を飲むとおいしかったです。
　英国の水道水と言えば、とんでもない事件がありました。妻が夕食時にテーブルに置いたミネラルウォーターのボトルに水道水が入っていたのです。ミネラルウォーターの在庫がきれたため、代案としてこれを思いついたそうです。妻は、そうとは知らないボクが水道水をおいしそうに飲んでいるとほくそ笑んでいたそうです。この事件、帰国後に告白されました。
