March 14, 2022：入社、英語、スキー、ソ連 (Joining a Company, English, Skiing, Soviet Union)

 I graduated from university and joined a company with the hope of engaging in overseas business. However, I was assigned to a quality control department at a factory in Nagano Prefecture. It changed my life so much. I had no chance to use English at work and no place to buy English newspapers or magazines in the town. Under the circumstance, I struggled to find a way to read English newspapers. As a result, I found the best way was to buy the edition of the Japan Times. As time went by, I managed to adjust to the new life. In winter, I encountered the most exciting sports in my life. It was skiing. I was so enthusiastic about it that I went skiing every weekend and spent a lot of money on it.
 Back then, there was a change in the Soviet Union. The ruler, Leonid Brezhnev, passed away and was replaced by Yurii Andropov. Andropov also died in just two years. It was the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

　大学を卒業後、海外営業職を希望して、精密機械メーカーに就職しました。ところが、最初の所属先は、長野県の工場にある品質管理部でした。これがボクの人生を変えました。仕事で英語を使う機会はなく、英字新聞や雑誌を買える場所もありませんでした。英字新聞を読む方法を探すのに苦労しましたが、ジャパンタイムズの縮刷版が最良の方法と分かりました。時がたつにつれて、新生活にも慣れてきました。そして、冬には、人生で最高のスポーツに出くわしました。スキーです。夢中になって毎週、スキーに行き、お金をかけました。
　その当時、ソ連では変化がありました。最高指導者のブレジネフ氏が死去し、アンドロポフ氏に交代しました。アンドロポフ氏もわずか2年で死去してしまた。これが、ソ連崩壊の始まりです。
