Another Struggle from 2012　(#2)
（ 2012年に始まった もう一つの闘い ）

　　　　　They never stepped back.
　　　　　　（彼らは　決して　後ろに退(ひ) かなかった。）

　　　　　They kept trying to step forward.
　　　　　　（前へ前へ　踏み出そうと　し続けた。）

　　　　　Sometimes they even crawled.
　　　　　　（時には　這ってでも。）

　　　　　It was not cool at all.
　　　　　　（それは全く　カッコ良くは　なかった。）

　　　　　But so what? 　
　　　　　　（しかし　だからどうだと言うのか？）

　If they had chosen to go around that wall at that time, they might not have missed out.
　（ もしあの時、あの壁を迂回する道を選択していたら、彼らは全国大会への出場を逃さずに済んでいたかも知れない。）

　For example, they could have simplified the rhythm somewhat by omitting the notes of less important branches.
　（ たとえば、あまり重要でない枝葉の音を省略して、ある程度リズムを単純化することも出来た筈だ。）

　Or, as an emergency measure, they could have gone all out and simplified it to almost two beats.
　（ あるいは、緊急措置として、思い切って２拍子に近い形に簡略化してしまうことだって、彼らには可能だった筈なのだ。）

　In fact, they had played such arrangements in street marching, where only portable instruments were available.
　（ 実際、携行楽器しか使用できないストリートでのマーチングの際には、彼らは、そういったアレンジで演奏していた。）

　However, they didn't do that.
　Why on earth?
　（ にもかかわらず、彼らは、そうはしなかった。
　　 いったいなぜだろう？）

　Because that was not their way.
　（ それは、彼らの流儀にそぐわなかったからだ。）

　They tried to step FORWARDー not behind or to the side.
　（ 彼らは、前へ 踏み出そうとしたのだ――後ろでも横でもなく。）
