英語日記 No.69

It is encouraging to learn that more than 560,000 children in Gaza have been vaccinated against polio as part of the first phase of the vaccination campaign, despite the extremely difficult circumstances. However, I am deeply saddened that the Israeli military continues to bombard Gaza, killing civillians every day. I have great respect for the health workers and others involved in the vaccination program. I imagine that parents in Gaza feel far from reassured, unable to shield their children from the constant threat of Israeli bombing. Israeli forces have claimed that they attacked schools because Hamas used the sites as command-and-control posts, but many humanitarian organizations refute this. It seems that there is no safe haven for civillians in Gaza. I sincerely hope that a second dose of the polio vaccine can be safely administered to each child next month.

Thank you for reading my diary.
