前回お話しした助詞の追加情報です！

～WillとWould の用法～

Will＝①習慣②主語の強い意志③推測　

現在の習慣
He will often stay up all night　彼はよく徹夜をすることがあります。
強い意志・拒絶
My brother won't listen to my parents’ advice.私の弟は両親の忠告を決して聞こうとしない。

推量
I will be busy this afternoon.
The door doesn't open VS The door won’t open
Doesn’t openは単純にドアが開かない　Won't openはどうしても開かないの意味になる。

過去の習慣　
I would sometimes go to see the movie all by myself.　時折よく一人で映画に行ったものだ
My grandmother would often tell me a story before I went to sleep.
祖母は寝る前によく話をしてくれました

過去の強い拒絶
I asked her to use the car, but she would never let me.
車を貸してくれるように頼んだが、彼女は決して私に使わせてはくれませんでした。

～Shouldの用法～

義務・当然を表す＝ought to~「～すべきだ、～するとよい」
MustやOught toよりもやわらかい表現。
You must go. VS You should go.

その他の意味　「～するはずだ、～するだろう」
This map should be useful when you are in Vancouver.　
バンクーバーに行ったらこの地図はきっと役にたつでしょう。

＊＊＊命令、提案、要求、主張を表す動詞＋that節には
shouldが用いられます＊＊＊＊

I suggested that he go/goes/went to English School　
ここでgo, goes, wentのどれが正しいかというと・・・
→　I suggested that he (should) go to ESL.

その他の例文
I recommended that I (should) buy a tape recorder.
The workers demanded that their wages (should) be raised
