追悼　Claire Janisch

バイオミミクリー南アフリカの創設者であるClaire Janischが突然旅立たれたニュースが入りました。昨年、彼女のプログラムを日本で展開していくようなパートナーシップの話をさせて頂いた事もあり、今回、日本での社団法人の立ち上げをお知らせしようと思っていた矢先で言葉を失っています。

zoomでしかお話した事がなく、いつか南アフリカでお会いしたいと思っていましたが、残念でなりません。

彼女の動画プログラムは存在しているので、いつか皆さんと共に学ぶ機会を作りたいと思っています。

It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear mentor, friend and founder of BiomimicrySA, Claire Janisch, today passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at her home in the Midlands, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

Claire was a beacon of inspiration and touched the lives of thousands of us. She was often described as an ecological angel and her impact was undoubtedly global. The void that is left by her passing will be deeply felt by many.

Claire was instrumental in helping to establish Biomimicry communities across the world through advocating and education. On home soil, we are so grateful to Claire for bringing Biomimicry to us here in Africa. It was her vision, to see this country and the continent thrive in abundance, as nature intended. Through her unwavering dedication and selflessness she has taken us closer by sowing and nurturing so many seeds of Biomimicry in so many industries across the country.

We're confident that the seeds she has sown, will continue to grow and blossom beautifully and bare the fruit of her vision, understanding that each fruit contains a new seed of potential.

Claire would be reminding us now to ask ourselves, "What would Nature do?", and with this in mind we are reminded that there are no endings but only transformations allowing for new beginnings. Let this bring some sense of comfort during this deeply sad time.
