フィンランド陶芸作家マリアンネと出会った日のこと

私はヘルシンキのカフェ ekberg1852 にいた。
パリでのクリスマスマーケットに出品を終えて、
せっかくなら雪のフィンランドが見たくてと足を伸ばしたのだ。

さて、何をしよう。

この年はあまりに忙しく、私の引き出しの中のように
頭の中は無法地帯になっていた。
自分を空っぽにしなくちゃと、
その時の気分で過ごそうと決めていたのだ。

シナモンロールとコーヒー…なんて最高。
そういえば、と思い浮かべたのは、
同じ年の夏、表参道のスパイラルで見た マリアンネ の作品だった。

「ん？ええ！これは陶器？すごい」

気づけば、数センチまで近づいて見てた。
その繊細さと美しさに魅了された驚きと感動を、
このヘルシンキで、どうしても、もう一度味わいたかった。

いくら検索しても辿り着かず、考えあぐねて、
偶然共通の知人と出会ったこともあって
迷惑かも知れないと思いつつ、本人へメッセージを送った。

そこで、直接彼女と出会うことになって、
３年後、今年一緒に展示会をさせて頂くとは。

10/23のオンライントークセッションでは、そのときのお話をしようかなと、思ってます。

I was at Cafe @ekberg1852 in Helsinki.
I had just finished exhibiting at a Christmas market in Paris and wanted to see Finland in the snow anyway.

Now, what am I going to do?

The year had been so busy that my mind had become as lawless as the inside of my drawers.
I had to empty myself , I had to be in the right mood.
Cinnamon rolls and coffee... it's great, I thought as I looked at my phone and thought of @mariannehuotari's work that I had seen at Spiral in Tokyo that summer.

"Hmm? Yeah! Is that ceramic? Gorgeous ."

I found myself looking at it a few inches closer.
I really wanted to experience the wonder and excitement of being enchanted by its delicacy and beauty again here in Helsinki.

No matter how many times I searched, I couldn't find it, so I had a hard time thinking about it and sent a message to the person, thinking it might be annoying.

It was there that I met her in person, and three years later, this year, we decided to have an exhibition together.

I'm thinking of talking about it in the online talk session on October 23.
