【アニメ感想】英語で地獄楽の第一話を語る！　＃１

Hello! This is my first article on this blog.
Today I’m gonna discuss the first episode of Hell’s paradise.
I will introduce a brief summary of the story, and share my thoughts of the first episode.

A brief introduction of the story!（Spoiler alert!）

Hell’s paradise is a manga that takes place in Edo period.

The protagonist called “Gabimaru”, a ruthless assassin who have slaughtered thousands of people in the past.

One day, he was captured by a Shogunate, “Yamada Saemon.”
As a judgment, he was sentenced to death punishment, and an execution was done to him.

However, none of the executions have worked against him.
It appears that he still have an attachment to life and subconciously resists death.

This can be explained by the fact that Gabimaru has a wife and he loves her.

Days after, he was offered a pardon for his death penalty under a condition of acquiring an elixir for life from an island called "Shinsenkyo."

After that, he won a selection to decide a team to embark on Shinsenkyo, and he took a boat to the island along with assingned executioner, Sagiri.

My thoughts about the first episode

The first episode, the main focus was on the protegnist Gabimaru, and you can see his background and his personality through it.

I really liked how Gabimaru’s personality is drawn!

Usually, a lot of anime characters, they only have one aspect in characteristic.
But, as for Gabimaru, he has multiple aspects in characteristic.

He used to be a ruthless murderer, yet he has a compassion for his wife.

And he actually have accepted an offer of a pardon in order to reunite with his wife.

I think this gap in his characteristic makes him a real attractive protagonist.

So far my fave is Gabimaru!

I also liked that Sagiri saw through Gabimaru’s true personality.

Sageri doubted Gabimaru’s word that he has no attachment to life, and suspected that he subconciously resists the execution and tries to stay alive for some reason.

And then, she deduced that he still loves his wife, which is the reason he struggles to survive.

When Sagiri encountered Gabimaru for an execution, she made him realized that he still has an attachment to life, and uncovered his true soul.

From this series of her actions, I can infer that she plays a really important roll for Gabimaru to chenge his personality and be more humane.

Not to mention, the fighting scene between Gabimaru and Sagiri in the execution was very intense!

Gabimaru demonstrated a Ninjutsu of fire and wiped out all the subordinates of Yamada Saemon.

So, I am looking forward to seeing some other intense fighting scenes, and more Ninjiutsu of Gabimaru.

But overall, I found this episode to be a deep human drama.

Since this is the first episode, the main focus was on Gabimaru.
But, I expect it introduces other characters too, and hope to know their backgrounds and personalities deeply in later episodes.
