Chain: from Calculus to Counterpoint

Yesterday, I learned about "Atonal Music" and "Counterpoint" on the Internet. I've known them as words before. But I didn't know about them in detail. But I don't want to write about "Atonal Music" and "Counterpoint". I want to write about "Serendipity". In fact, I found "Atonal Music" and "Counterpoint" by chance.

I teach mathematics this term at my university. In my math class, students learn "Calculus", namely "Differential" and "Integral". In Japan, most high school students enter and graduate in general courses. Such students in high school general courses learned "Differential" and "Integral" in their math classes. But some students don't learn them at all. Namely, there are students who learned them and other students who didn't learn them in one class. So I struggle to teach math to them indeed. It's not good that the class is too easy for some students and the same class is too hard for other students. In other words, it's too hard to set the average level of students. So I was finding good material for math yesterday.
One publisher gave me a sample textbook for "Calculus". It's not so seldom because many teachers begin to think about the textbook for next year. I scanned the textbook a little. This textbook looks good, I thought. So I was interested in the author and searched for him on the Internet. He is a university professor of math. According to the Internet, he wrote a technical paper about mathematics and music. I was so interested in it and I searched for it more. Then, I found "Atonal Music". I watched a video about "Atonal Music" on YouTube. It was related to my current research work. Moreover, when I watched the video, I was recommended a video about "Counterpoint" from YouTube. Watching it, it's also related to my current research work. I was deeply moved.
I often feel that everything is connected. I really think so. I want to cherish "by chance" important. Everything is a chain. It's a chain from mathematics (Calculus) to music (Atonal Music, Counterpoint) too.
