【MONOLOG in English】No. 9

Today, I spoke much English.  I often tend to get confused while speaking English. However, It's really spontaneous things 'cause it isn't my mother tongue :) English grammar structure and words and phrases are totally and completely differ from Japanese… I all the time get jealous of English speaking country's people. They can naturally absorb and acquire enough skills regarding whole Englsih factors, speaking, listening, reading and writing. And no matter where they go,  English is a communication tool that they can use, so they won't have any issues.

Though I want to cease like this I keep complaining about how my Englsih level is low,  Every time I have conversation with a teacher in English, i realize how bad and horrible I am and feel depressed. All but 10 years have passed since I started learning English.  It isn't so difficult for me to get to some extent when listening. I can understand a sense of what the other person is tyring to convey. But on the other hand, when it comes to speaking, it's frustrating that I'm unable to compose sentences logically or use appropriate grammar to make up conversatinal structures.

I wonder that why most of Japanese people (including me) cannnot master coversational Englsih even though they've been studying English for many years? The answer is simple an clear. English education has stopped at classroom lectures filled with grammar and reading in order to pass university entrance examination. Rather than that, educational institution ought to place emphasis on conversation education based on each situation such as small talk, business, studying abroad, travel and so on. Children and students should be given afluent opportunities for using natural English. First and foremost, it'll be really invaluable for them not to force only grammar study. Even it's English grammar at the junior high school level, sudents have to first engage in conversation and be provided chances to experience the delight of communicating their English to others.
