#236【English】Morning Talk For Santa

Good morning everyone it’s Thursday, December 24th and it’s time for Amber’s morning English Talk.

It’s currently 4 degrees in Tokyo with clear skies, but it looks like it will start getting cloudy in the late morning and throughout the evening. There is a high of 14 degrees in the afternoon.

Today, because it is Christmas Eve day, I want to talk about Santa. Last night on our live show we talked about a few different Santa tracker sites, but focused much of our time on the Goggle-based Santa tracker. If you have time, it’s definitely worth checking out because it has a wide variety of games and learning activities as well.

But on the subject of Santa, do you all know what you should leave for Santa as a thank you for the gifts he brings?

Maybe you’ve seen it in movies or other media from the U.S., but there is a tradition to leave Santa a small plate of cookies (or a single cookie is fine too) with a glass of milk. This is a thank you and also a kind of ”you can do it! Keep it up!" motivational snack. And kids often leave this on a table near their Christmas tree with a small thank you note. 

But there are other options too! Like a small dish of carrot sticks or other veggies for Santa’s reindeer. A relatively new Christmas Eve tradition is leaving “reindeer dust”  or a colorful decorative sugar in the shape of an arrow in their lawn or garden pointing to their house so that the reindeer know where to land. This is a pretty new Christmas Eve activity, as I've only seen it posted online in recent years. 

Today I'd like to end our talk with a question for those that are listening:
What would you give as a "You can do it! Keep it up!" sort of thank-you snack for Santa?
