#22 The Sun also Shines [PART3. Spain] ep.IX "Toledo the Ancient City①"
"If you have only one day in Spain, go to Toledo."
as they say, I joined a day trip tour to Toledo. It is a small city on a hill having a river around.
They have walls made of stone, so is flagstone. The city has many zigzaggy steep streets, and it makes me tired. Knowned as a must-see spot, it was crowded with lots of people. Because Judaism used to be a principle religion, there is a Synagogue as a tail of the history.
You can find a picture of the entire city across the river if you google it. The place is always crowded with people who want to take photos like that. My group wasn't exception. It caught my eyes by looking at the landscape and something else.
The spot is on a hill right next to the river with a lot of trash at foot. THis city is no loger in charge of the most important role of economy nor politics, but it is a cultural symbol.
This trash may be thrown away by visitors who activate economy. Comparing to beautiful pictures, the river looks dirty in this terrible reality. The great view of the city is fascinating, but sometimes you need to look down.
People who make this city destroy the city.
What a clear irony. What is sightseeing?
