At a time 

when there is a lot of product development going on with the aim of eliminating plastic, 

Marubeni Corporation 

has begun offering 

“edish”, a renewable 

dishware product 

that can reborn.

The upcycling process 

is (1) molding food waste materials,such as food skins and 
cores, into dish-ware

(2) provide the dishware to restaurants, and 

(3) collecting the dishware after use and having it crushed and dried at the factory before using as feed or fertilizer.

It is safe 

because it’s made 

from food, 

andafter being used 

as dishware, 

they can be compost. 

In addition, 

they can be recycled in a shorter period of time than 

biodegradable plastics, 

which often take 

six months or longer 

to turn into soil.

Future is bright with those wonderful products 

and ideas 

that create new value 

and various 

resources in the life cycle.

ー丸紅が開発した”循環型食器"ー

脱プラスチックを目指して、製品開発が盛んな今、丸紅は「何度でも生まれ変わる」再生可能な食器「edish（エディッシュ）」の提供を始めました。このアップサイクルのプロセスは①食物の皮や芯などの食品廃材を食器に成型②飲食店へ提供③使用後は食器を回収し工場にて粉砕・乾燥された後、飼料や肥料になります。

食品から生まれる為安全性も高く食器として使った後はそのままコンポスト(堆肥化）が可能です。また、土にかえるまでに半年からそれ以上かかることも多い生分解性プラスチックに比べ短期間で循環します。ライフサイクルの中で様々な資源と新たな価値を生み出す素晴らしい製品やアイデアたちにより未来は明るいです。
